John Deere 4066R - 7 years and 700 hours

I first subscribed to your channel when you got your 4066R. Good to see it is still going strong. I have an OS 4066R I bought new in Fall of 2016. It has almost 1,100 hours on it and has not had any major issues either. Good machines.

Sounds like you made a good purchase with that one.I feel the same way about my 2038R as it has exceeded my expectations. Bought it new in 2017 and in another week I'll hit the 700 hr.mark

What your opinion on compact utility tractor vs a skid steer. I have a 4052r open station i love the tractor for going across the yard and moving brush/trees but the lift capacity is lacking. Im afraid a skid steer will rip a lawn but there lift capacity is double a utility tractor.

I've given this a lot of thought over the past year and I still don't think there is a correct answer. The benefits of a tractor are lower cost of ownership, cheaper attachments (used), easier on turf (as you noted), and more utility but less efficient in some tasks. The huge benefits of a skid steer are larger lift capacities in a more compact size, more efficient at dirt work, and better resale value per year and hour of use (in most cases with a name brand). In the next few years I will most likely upgrade the 4066R in some capacity, but I am not sold on which direction that upgrade will be. Lift capacity will always be an issue, even if you have more, you will want more. So its a never ending tale of wanting more capacity. I would love to lift more than 2,000 lbs with my 4066R. I wanted to lift more than 750 lbs when I only had my X748 and 45 loader. Reality is the 4066 lifts 95% of what I need. Its the 5% that is a really pain in the butt and what I spend the most time when trying to solve the problem!!

Mine bulls around unless you regen it at full throttle, wide open in about 25 minutes 0% soot. You have any trouble with the 3rd function sticking and not working? Use it for my mx8 and grapple. Watched a ttwt video on it.

I have not had any issues with the 3rd function. I use it infrequently but it’s never caused an issue.
