John Deere 54" Quick Hitch Plow Overview & Install

I have a X758 using the same blade. Yes I shake it when installing too. I clear 1200' feet of road and part of it a 10% grade. Never more than 15-20" snow here. I do up hill and down hill plowing with six rear suitcase weights in back. Never lose traction up or down hill. I have the extention wings too but feel not needed. Amazing what work the diesel X758 can do.

Enjoyed the video Josh, Quick question when you owned your 580, did your brush guard rattle when you were driving yet? Having that issue now and I’m not sure what to do other than put a strap on it somewhere. Any advice?. Cheers

I don’t recall too much rattling… you could get some rubber washers on the bar that the spring clips go through… if there is room… that would help. They make thick and thin ones, just put them between all metal surfaces. You could also put fiber washers if the parts grip the rubber too much.

Do you set the skid shoes, the same level as the blade where it makes contact with the ground? Great video.

Yeah, mine are close to the same height as they can get. Don't want them too high or the blade will try to dig into hardpack... for me at least. Other regions may not have hardpack snow like I do.

Ok, yeah I would still just put them close to the same. That’s how I’ve always seen plows anyway.

I can’t figure out how to get the quick hitch front blade on my 1025r. Not sure how the quick hitch attaches to tractor.

Unfortunately I can't help you there... It should have came with an instruction sheet though showing how to install it.

I prefer the x590. More compact and the wheels don’t stick out past the snowblower or plow.

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss my 580 sometimes! Can’t beat the diesel though…

Never used a plow on my 580, but the part number for it is 6006M. it is a 48" plow... For some reason it seems like all the deere plows are too narrow... The 580 could handle 54" easy, just not sure how compatible it would be due to the hitch system.

Got it from my dealer. Order code was 1492M... Couldn't really find another number. Maybe ST939552?
