John Deere 830 torque monster, the ultimate two cylinder tractor pull

This is me pulling on our 1959 John Deere 830 Diesel THE ULTIMATE 2 cylinder tractor. I came in first with this pull, blew everyone else away, they were either spinning out or powering out. You can't stall this tractor, it is impossible! I have it throttled down to such a low rpm, you can hear the two pistons hammering, ca chung, ca chung... 472 cubic inch diesel power baby, yeah...

Awesome power, torque, traction and it looks like it just came out of the field with no modifications. I have a 1974 830, its a 3 cylinder and weights 4400 lbs, it would be no match for this old workhorse. Not as much torque nor traction. Nothing runs like a Deere. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! My Father bought this tractor in the early 70's and we used to farm with it. I spent many hours riding along side my Dad on this 830. It runs so good and I'm happy we still have it.

We have just started our 830,after 8years of collecting pigeon crap,in the shed,I can't believe how much torque they have.We are having an old machinery day at Croppa Creek,in the Golden Triangle(refers to wheat)in NW NSW,Australia,we will be having a tractor pull next year.

I saw an Oliver Super 99 pulling around. According to Nebraska tests, it had more drawbar pull than the 830. That didn't mean it could pull things the same way. The Detroit would not lug at idle or just above as witnessed here. 660 Internationals wouldn't either without some serious work. Remember, that 830 was original and not clouding the sky.

Every year they have the World Championship 2 cylinder Tractor Pull on the first weekend of August in Butler, Il. They had a 830 there that pulled in the 6500, 7500 and 8500 lb class. They had the open and 2 cylinder classes. That tractor made a full pull in every class. But it was really turned up. It was making so much horsepower they had frame around the cylinder head and angle iron brace down to the frame. It was a beast!!!
