My friend Nathan Skipper bought the last civilian tractor to come into Wilmington in 1942 and it was a distillate IH. It kept him out of the war. His farm was considered part of the war effort. Most people in the county and he paid for the tractor by plowing new fields for expanded production

My grandfather used to talk about how he used to filter his used oil then mix it with gasoline or kerosene and or diesel and put that in the front tank and ran it off that. But he immediately followed that up by saying you had better remember to switch it back to gas before shutting it down otherwise you'd have a very difficult time starting it the next day! Sometime later at the county fair I spoke to an elderly man sitting next to his all-fuel John Deere and he confirmed the used (filtered) motor oil, but he never thought about using diesel, but thought it might be possible due to the size of the pistons and compression they built up.

According to my B’s manual they can run on heating oil. I bet the you could mix kero and no 2 oil in a tank and they would burn that too

I find it interesting! I have a 1943 all-fuel JD A. I have been tempted to run it on kerosene just to see what happens.

Yes. There were a few models that are popping johnnys. Model h is one of them.
