Proud owner of a 2023 S100. Mine has a green deck the only difference. I've mowed two times so far. It's been a big upgrade from my 20 yr old Murray mower. Both built in my home state!! I did notice your battery terminal cover was not pushed up in place covering the terminal. Maybe you saw that. I had to do the same with mine. Thanks for the walk thru!!

Glad I came across this. I'm actually at the moment considering this exact model from my local John Deere store. Of course they are wanting to upsell me into a $3800 X300 series, but I don't think I need anything more than this. I'm not plowing snow, or pulling anything. Just a flat 1/4 acre house. And of course after you take into account the house, driveway, and easement, it's probably closer to 1/5 acre. Thanks for the in depth review. 🐾🐶🐕

I like the simple single cylinder engine for the S100 and S110 models. Easier to work on. But I'd rather have the S120 with the 22 HP v-twin engine. Smoother operation. The S120 models have the electronic LCD display for fuel level read outs and also has the usual hour meter as well. Nothing runs like a Deere!

Gas tank is "floating" that's how the fuel indicator works beneath the seat front.

@@MI_Magazine update! I got a 2024 S180 54 inch deck one instead! Lowe’s price matches so I was able to find an insanely sweet deal online. I ended up paying $2000 less for the mowers original price!

i like mine but find that it's too easy to get going too fast with this hydrastatic pedal engauge system. i'd prefer they had a speed shifter, but as is a person has to hover their foot and feather the pedal. i'd say it's too much mower for most people.

It does take a bit of effort to slow it down for tougher patches to mow. I find easing the throttle back helps. Thanks for watching.

Fair point. Looks like John Deere does not seem inclined to improve. If this tank's a-rockin, don't come a-knockin.

Having just cleaned out my Deere for the winter, I may have realized why they have the rocking gas tank. It may be to let you mix in the fuel stabilizer that you need to store over winter. I did this yesterday and enjoyed the benefit of being able to shake up the tank. But they still could have put a clip to lock back in after mixing.
