JOHN DEERE Tractors at Work on a Farm Mowing Hay

In this video Big Tractor Power spends time in the field with three JOHN DEERE tractors mowing alfalfa. The video features two 175 hp JOHN DEERE 6175R tractors with 13ft JOHN DEERE 946 MoCo mower conditioners and a 245 hp JOHN DEERE 8245R tractor with a 29.9 ft Claas Disco Triple mower at work on a dairy farm mowing hay. Watch these tractors travel back and forth in a large field mowing. At the and of the video 130 hp JOHN DEERE 6130M tractors with Claas 1750 Liner Rakes windrow the alfalfa and a 616 hp JOHN DEERE 9600i self propelled forage harvests chops the crop to process it into dairy cow feed.

We can cut alfalfa 3 times a year. We do it with a john deere 6155R and a krone mower👍😁 I like the smell of freshly cut grass👍😉 Nice video, keep up the great work👍👍

It is interesting to see how quickly hay sets down here in Western Kentucky. I grew up in Western New York it took a good day to get the hay to dry. Here it starts in a few passes because of the heat.

On our farm in Ohio we had a mower that hooked to the back of our JD model 50, it had about a 8' cutter bar, we would usually get 2 cutting a year, but that was back in the 60's things sure has changed, told my daughter the other day I done think I could operate any of this new equipment they have now

The John Deere 50 is a nice tractor. Tractors have grown up in size and ability but are not intimidating to use especially a John Deere today. John Deere is all about push button ease. John Deeres look good on camera and u.s Farmers choice of Tractor Although I used to do some hauling for Farm that had Deeres! Are the U.S spec Tractors different to English?

There are some differences between North American and European tractor specs. Minor changes like fenders and hitches.

They know the sink hole is there. Sink holes are common here. You never know when one will popup. The big clump of trees the tractors are mowing around in the video is a larger sink hole.

Those are low spots that hold water in the winter. They plant rye grass in those spots because the alfalfa is drowned out by the water.

In this area there are not allot of dairy farms. Kentucky is the 5th largest cattle state in the US and there is a good market for used 946 mow cows used on area cattle farms.

At 7:45 they have a big sink hole in the ground and surprised for mowing 7 times a year they dont use mergers since ya could put 60' of hay in a windrow.

Sink holes are common in Western Kentucky. Lots of under ground caves. A sink hole opened up in Bowling Green , KY not too far from this farm in the middle of the Corvette Museum. The sink hole swallowed the 3 and 5 millionth Corvettes built. The trees the tractors are mowing around is an even larger sink hole. They use rakes to Merge because they follow the rolling terrain better than a merger.

@@bigtractorpower Very much so regarding the caves. My wife is from NKY and on my last visit to the States we drove to see Mammoth cave. Their museum has amazing explanations and visualizations about the geology of the region (and all of North America) and my personal conclusion was that Western Kentucky has more holes than a Swiss cheese. But at least it's not Florida! haha And for anyone reading who has not seen the Mammoth cave, I highly recommend it. One of the most impressive places I have been to.

To those who think tractor driving is fun . . . it is and it isn't! Try sitting on your arse for sixteen hours a day in a comfortable but constantly moving cab, for seven days a week in season and you'll soon wish you could swap with a fisherman in a 20' boat on choppy water! Btw, this one field is about the size of an entire farm that supported a man and his family in the '50s.
