Part 1 of doing some maintenance on the John Deere X748. In this part I attend a battery issue and change the oil. In the next part I give the steering cylinder and tie rod a good inspection.

I too had been neglecting my x595’s battery. It decided to remind me by not starting for the last mow of the season. Not only was the terminal super corroded, but the cables had corrosion in side that caused enough resistance that even fully charged the battery could not start the tractor. I had to replace both cables.

The positive cable at minimum has to be replaced.... I think the ground is OK for right now.

When I go back in to replace the positive cable I will use that. I meant to mention it in the video. I didn’t want to deal with red crap all over my hands in a few weeks when I will be right back in there. I may also install some felt washers under the terminals.

Is there a preferred filling hole on the Yanmar TVN engine? It has one on the valve cover too.

Either one works. In some applications one oil plug is not accessible so they have two.

A “strap”, part M119854 is how it is listed in the parts breakdown. So I would say yes that is OEM.
