John Farnham aka Farnsey. A true humble man. A voice no one can or will ever match. Now in his seventh decade and still singing the same chords as he was when 30. He is not pretentious and always thanks the band and singers at each song. He is humbled by the voice he was given and daily uses it to bring a smile to all. Just listened to a reaction of John Farnham singing Angels. He is now 71 years old and still sings all his amazing songs in the same cord as he did when he was in his 20's. He is as Australian icon much adored by all ages. He chose not to leave Oz to make it in "the big time, " but choose to sing for us. The whole country know him as Farns. And he is exactly as you said he appeared. Down to earth, honest chats to anyone as if he was their never door neighbor. He was voted Australian of the year in the 80's. Look for a clip when Celine Dion was on tour here and all she wanted to do was sing YOUR THE VOICE during her concert with him in Melbourne. It's a fabulous clip .PLEASE try listening to A TOUCH OF PARADISE , YOUR THE VOICE they will blow you away.

John Newton, former slave and slaver, who became a christian through grace, and evenutally became an abolitionist, wrote this wonderful song in 1772. Lindsay Field and Venetta Fields - long time Farnham band members - backing vocals. Venetta Fields has an amazing background - started with Ike and Tina Turner, has sung with a who's who of american singers in the 70s, then came to Australia in the 80s and sang with the cream of American and Australian singers.

Lindsay Field, like John's other backing vocalist Lisa Edwards, was a session singer. John dragged them out of the studios and put them on stage. Lisa eventually released a couple of her own albums too.

John’s first number one was at 18. He is 72 now and he still has that voice. I went to his first farewell tour. His wife Jilly keeps sending him back to work. She says he gets fat at home. His concert can go for 3 hours and he is best live. He takes a quick break to get dry clothes but he leaves everything he has on that stage. He is a really nice man.

This is very old. John is now in his 60's and still sings like he did when young. John is known here Down Under as The Voice. Some of his great hits are, Chain Reaction, Age of Reason, Help, You're The Voice, Two Strong Hearts, Pressure Down, Angles and a whole lot more. Yes he was the lead singer of Little River Band (LRB) for a short while but he is much better as a solo artist. You should also check out more Aussie singers/bands, such as INXS, ACDC, The Divinyls, Mental as Anything, Cold Chisel, Ice House, Crowded House, Midnight Oil etc. Just do a Google search for more great Aussie bands/singers. Hunny, Miss Vanetta, originally from Buffallo started with the Ikettes of Ike and TinaTurner fame in 1961! She's about 9 yrs older than John and was back up for him for many years! Miss Vanetta is a Field, the other, Fields, so close but no cigar! Just fucking amazing!

Its great seeing you react to John. He really is that good. Over a long career , he has covered so much ground from record to theatre ( Jesus Christ Superstar 1992) to selling out concerts at unprecedented levels, to still performing now. He is Australian but he belongs to the world because he is an irresistible force. I'm a long time fan and if you would indulge me with one of my many favourites then his version of Bridge Over Troubled Water is the one. Its available on KZbin. Vanetta Fields and Lindsay Fields (no relation) have been John's back-up singers for years and he always acknowledges them and other band members for their talents. Great singers. I went to a concert where John Farnham was the support act for Stevie Knicks. He has such a reputation that at least a quarter of the audience left after his set and I confess Stevie performance was sub par and I left aswell

Very true story! I’m afraid I was one of the people who eventually walked out during Stevie’s set. Sadly, it felt like a let down after watching Farnham. That was back in 2006 👌

Venetta Fields and Lynsey Field aren’t married but Google Venetta Fields, she backed some of the biggest acts in the US before moving to Oz. And Lynsey is a super cool, voice coach, major part of the Farnham band and does a million musical things he was in Hair when it came out in the ?70’s and has a voice like velvet. Have had a crush on him since I first saw him on the Mike Walsh show-in the 70’s. They are All amazing talents. Tina NEILSEN.💙♥️💙

I think he didn't feel the need to go overseas - he could have, but it wasn't so accessible in the 80s. You've got ACDC and then INXSl So he probably was content without complicating it. However, some people know "You're the voice" in the same way they know "Down Under""
