When we were there Every single time they did this song in each tour, the audience would be full of emotional sobbing individuals. Don’t be embarrassed, I still have tears rolling down my face as type. My mothers name was Grace and she was truly an amazing beautiful hearted mother and woman . She passed a few years ago aged 95 and I always cry listening to John Venetta and Lindsay sing this, as it’s so beautifully powerful, and reminds me of mum as I still miss her terribly.

I honestly never had one argument with mum, she annoyed me twice, I felt so guilty I bought her flowers lol. I don’t want to forget mum or dad, in my own opinion, I got the best parents. I’m not blocking those happy memories, even if I cry. Dad passed before mum, he only reached aged 89 lol. He was a generous man, he used to give our things away to poor people, makes me laugh now. Not at the poor people, heck no, just at dad, he was funny and great

Gee your mum was so young, that must have been so painful and heartbreaking. My mothers mum was born in 1885 and passed away after I had my first child in 1978, my grandfather’s sister was 92. Dad lived oldest on his side of family. Mums father I thought was young in his 70s when he passed. Gee I’ll be around driving my kids nuts for a few more years I reckon lol. Seriously must be so difficult to loose someone too early😢

Mum died overseas in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe where she and Dad were holidaying after her double mastectomy. They loved southern Africa but due to the presence of rebels around the Zambian border we weren't able to bring her body back to Australia so she was buried at the Victoria Falls cemetery. It was a shock losing her so soon and unexpectedly but made all the memories of a generous, funny, warm-hearted woman much more special. Now go to bed, sleep tight.

Started feeling a little overcome....then when those harmonies began...I felt such a warmth kind of like a 'big hug' Did you notice how far the microphone was from them? Amazing performance from Venetta Fields...What a gift she has. She has sung backup for Diana Ross, Bette Midler, Bob Dylan, the Supremes, and for Aretha Franklin - her mentor and inspiration. Probably the last time John decided to let his stylist put him in a silk shirt under those stage lights !! Saw this concert live - they were all outstanding as they always were/are - I hope against hope that John does one more tour, I missed him the last time he came to the West coast of Oz - even though it was a show in a vineyard and not in an arena it would still have been an awesome night. Some of John's more intimate settings are actually better than the big ones.

I have listened to this song many times sung by John, I was priveliaged to be at one of his concerts some years ago now, when he and Vanetta, Lindsay sang this song, so moving and it really takes your breath away !! I first heard this song probably about 30 to 40 yaers ago sang by Judy Collins, she is amazing, I had it played at both of my parents funerals. Check her out. Love this. About 12 years ago after doing the music for my Opa’s funeral I burnt a cd of this and labelled it “Amazing Grace, Play at Monique’s funeral. Leave crowd noise in!” and I gave it to my mum with strict instructions. ONLY this version. No other.
