John is our living legend with one of the world’s best voices. He is loved and he is getting well again. John has given us a lifetime of music that we still have. I just want him to be home with his family again and to know how many Australians have been praying and fighting with him because we love him. He is family just like Jilly and the boys, Gaynor and the kids. Glenn will always be a part of that family, our family, Australia’s family. When John sings a cover he usually teaches the owner how to sing it. Even the Beatles.

Depends on what you define as a few with fire fight in 2020 being one of his most recent performances with him touring pretty heavily in 2019! ;-) The thing that amazed me is he still sang his songs in the same key as he did in the 80s/90s etc. Impressive for a 70 year old. I fully agree he's more than welcome to a peaceful retirement when he's out of rehab.

The arrangement for John's version if HELP was done by John himself which he performed in the Royal Command Performance at Sydney Opera House in Sydney , this version was the inspiration for Tina Turners cover of the song also

I don't know if John Farnham recorded that song or not. But if he did not record it then it is amazing how the Beatles songs resonate through the decades. I was shocked when the crowd was able to sing all of the lyrics from the first verse. It's a connection to the past, and it's kind of a web that binds all of us together.

Of course he recorded it...first released in 1980...and then Tina Turner released it in 1984...it's a testament to the writing abilities of the Beatles. .but people in Australia know the words because of John Farnham. Most of this crowd didn't live through Beatlemania.

The crowd were singing John’s version of HELP because they all knew it and all had the album! Most of them wouldn’t have even known the Beatles version.

Yes he did record it many times. It first appeared on the Uncovered Album. This arrangement, was actually writen by John himself in 1980 and has been one of his most well known songs as he sings it at every concert which is why the crowd knows it and sings along with him. He sang it the first time at a Royal Gala performance in 1980. This particular concert was the late 80's so by this stage we had been singing along with this version for years. John Lennon actually loved John Farnham's version and said that he had originally wanted to record it as a slow ballad. So he appreciated Farnham's version

"It's a little bit funny" that John considers "Help" one of his best songs along with "I want to hold your hand" "Strawberry Fields Forever", "I am the walrus" and "in my life"!! Many people would disagree with "I want to hold your hand" but I agree with John I love that song! It was amazing that while Beatlemania was taking over the world John was crying out for "Help"!! CimdyStyle thanks for the info on John Farnham I really didn't know him and now I do and the the song is perfect for him!! Miley Cyrus has a really good video of "Help" on youtube!
