In memory of John Frost and his 2nd Parachute Battalion, their service, courage and bravery that will not be forgotten by anyone who hated the Nazis and despised them. Thank you for the great sacrifice you all made. German paratroopers greet each other with "Glück ab" and mean by that: Arrive safely on the ground, comrade. Today we are part of an alliance. Today we see on the brink of a new great war. Let's hope the chalice passes us by. And if not, that we live up to the memory of the men who fell and fought here. And let's hope that the decency shown by the enemy in Arnheim to the fighting Englishmen will not be forgotten, because the ceasefire has saved the lives of many soldiers who were taken prisoner but were still given medical care.

These are not slow marches. I believe these are in 3/4 time. Green Hills of Tyrol is the first tune, I believe. If it was a slow march, their marching would include a halt step. Also, the drum major calls a quick March, which tells the band the type of March it is. If he said "slow march", that would call for the halt step.

+Tom O'Connor No such thing as a three quarter March. The difference between a slow march and a normal march is the step. It is also practiced in many countries using a goose step. Slow march does not use the arms movement. Feet are parallel to the ground at all times. No halting step is neccessary...thats mostly used for funerals and colors. The pace is set by the drummer major...which can be as fast or slow as he likes...and may vary with the music played. Here, is an example of a normal march...no halted step for a funeral but a slower pace set for the somberness of the occassion. You will notice the guys at the beginning began with arms swinging. That said it all. Whether it be half pace, 3/4 pace or any pace in between....its up to the drummer major who will move with the music. Been around scotts bands all my life also, but as a military personel who had to march to them....and its all explained clearly in the manual lol. Not having a go at ya tom occonnor...explaining the fact of the matter. Many soldiers even have a problem co ordinating this lol.

I know there is no such thing as a 3/4 March. I incorrectly identified the step. I know it's not a halt step. I couldn't think of the name.

Tom O'Connor yes, really its just a march slowed down to suit the sombrerity of the music. To be honest...it was an impressive march for that pace. Not an easy pace to keep. really hard on the hips for bigger men.
