My favorite guitarist of all time. He evokes more emotion from me than any other musician. You can hear his pain.

i agree. but i will offer that you listen to some of david gilmour's playing if you haven't yet- he is incredibly emotive as well. john is my fav, but objectively, david might be even more emotive. also, while i'm not a big shred fan, check out the playing by jason becker on his song altitudes.

You deserve a MEDAL sir. ❤ I'm so glad I'm not the only one..😂 High Music intelligence is rare these days.. He is not playing the guitar, he IS the guitar! He is speaking, expressing emotions ,telling a story , pain , sadness, regret. It's still beyond me how managed to survived his terrible heroine addiction.. To recover it takes years and years. Mentaly ,physicly... BUT to come back stronger and create the most insabe solo,s like he does. If you know the context... Yes my friend. In my opinion he is the best guitar player ever. 😊 I salute you. Respect❤

yes, definitely he grew a lot by that point, musically (and i'm sure otherwise). that era from like '04-'06 he was imo at his creative peak. his solo output in '04 was significant, can tell his juices we really flowing. shortly after to then come out with sa- brilliant. and of course his solo output would remain top-tier for a while to come after. sadly, for as much as he's my all-time favourite musician, i don't think we'll see a return to that eras brilliance. the last two albums are lovely with some really great tracks/moments, but cannot hold a matchstick to cali-btw-sa-era (nor bssm), imho. but he still has lots of brilliant work to grace us with over the years to come, both with the band and solo (and other endeavours)

Not trying to be a hater, I respect John as a fellow guitarist, but I always fail to see why people think he's so great or on another level. Technically speaking, he stays in the same pentatonic box and the licks he plays are not difficult by any means. I understand "feel" and emotion put into it go a long way, but I don't personally find his work inspiring. That said, I love that he gets into his "zone" and enjoys his playing -- anyone who's been on stage and felt that knows what I mean.
@sammele882 жыл бұрын
I don’t really know anything about guitar but I’m like 90% sure “Snow (hey oh)” is one of the hardest songs to play on guitar
@hathajay3332 жыл бұрын
@@sammele88 Nah, that's just simple arpeggios, but it is a well-written guitar part. The hammer-on-pull-offs make it sound fancier (that's an easy trick guitarists, me included, have been using forever to sound super-awesome)

I don't know man, this guy has an special vibe...
@Cluefan2 жыл бұрын
As a fellow guitar player I have no idea how you think that way. What makes great artist great is not their ability to play difficult things, but their ability to innovate with even the most simple guitar techniques. As well as so many other small details (notes played in scale, intensity, tone, sequences of notes played, etc)
@hathajay3332 жыл бұрын
@@Cluefan 100% agreed, and as I mentioned above, the technical prowess is only one part of it -- I also don't find what he does particularly innovative or inspiring. Yeah, he's got some good stuff and gets into it a bit, but I've seen hundreds of other guitarists who are on the same level. So while I think it's totally cool that Froosh is many people's favorite guitarist, I just don't see the Hendrix comparisons because he's not doing anything new or groundbreaking like Jimi did.
