today my cat died, he was called after John, his name was Fru. I adopted him back in 2018 cause I was going through depression and needed some company. He was everything to me, my world, my best friend, my family, now he's gone. Jeez, I'll miss him until the end of the days. This song really says a lot about how I feel in this moment. I love you Fru and I always will, this one is for you buddy

This is what John said about Wayne: “This song was recorded for my friend Wayne Forman, the coolest, kindest friend anybody could ever have. When I used to play in arenas I would often mentally aim my playing at him. Wayne loved long guitar solos, and he was my favorite person in the audience to play for. As everyone who knew him is well aware, he was also the best chef ever. When I saw him two days ago, he was laying in front of a CD player, so when I came home I decided I’d make something for him. I recorded this solo for him to hear, but I finished it a day too late, so now it is a tribute to his memory. It is what he would have wanted me to play for him, and it is my offering to his family and friends all over the world, as well as anybody else. Wayne lives in our hearts forever, the greatest guy anybody could ever know. I’m so lucky to have been graced by his friendship. All the love in the world to him”.

I never thought I would post one of those comments, but....this is for my "Wayne". He left a day before Christmass and I think it hasn't even begun to sink in. He was my best friend and we were basically the only family we both had. He was 89, but brighter and more alive than most people I know....I miss him so much, but at the same time, like he once told me, we will always be friends no matter where we are. Feeling beyong grateful and blessed for the crossing of our paths, for 11 years of solid friendship and for everything he taught me about life (and chess:). My life would have a far worse turn, if I hadn't met him, of that I am sure and I am glad I was there to hold his hand and to have the honour of being his friend until the end. This music helps me remember he is still around, it's just the body that gets tired, the soul is eternal and so is our bond.

this track takes me from the highest soaring highs to the very crushing-most lowest of lows. it spans the full gamut of human emotions. i hear it a great deal in john's music, this (what i refer to as) sad optimism. maybe it's just melancholy. this is a song that requires your undivided attention- don't belittle it by having it on as merely background... that's doing it an immense disservice. in todays day and age, we do anything just to help pass the time faster and numb ourselves from our feelings... this is a song for healing. you put it on and you all yourself to: feel, cry, rejoice, and express gratitude. i just wish john would fully grasp how much he and his music mean to so many- he expresses via soundwaves what many of struggle our entire lives to express in words. his music is the light at the end of the tunnel, while here.

Some things just sound larger than life. It's just unexplainable, the selection of notes? The chord progression? Them all mixed together? what is it which makes this just so inconceivably good. Sometimes I wonder whether its John's soul which is making noise.

Can I just say, I fucking love John. I am not the biggest Chili Peppers fan. There's 3 albums I can listen to, and none of them are albums I am ever inclined to listen to. But the way this dude writes melodies, is priceless. All his solo albums are like a Bible of music to me. I don't get the electronic thing, but I hope it makes him happy. Only a person with a golden heart can write such pure music.

"This song was recorded for my friend Wayne Forman, the coolest, kindest friend anybody could ever have. When I used to play in arenas I would often mentally aim my playing at him. Wayne loved long guitar solos, and he was my favorite person in the audience to play for. As everyone who knew him is well aware, he was also the best chef ever. When I saw him two days ago, he was laying in front of a CD player, so when I came home I decided I'd make something for him. I'm so lucky to have been graced by his friendship. All the love in the world to him". - John
