John Grant, you have filled the great musical hole left in my bones when David Bowie died and therefore stopped producing new music. Thank you John, your music is truly incredible and your band are magnificent. From a new fan (for past 2 years) who has come to see you sing once already in Glasgow and hopefully many times more.

Music it's not a choice for him it's a vital necessity, to see ( and to hear ) him behind a microphone is like to see great crooners of the past, but without filters, without artificially tricks. His music is a modern piece of art, patchwork of atemporal melodies and electronics sounds and effects. I love his work, I always admire the real talent. He's got the whole package!

I can hear the composer John Barry, Alex Lifeson on guitar and elements of Rufus Wainwright plus the '80,s' Synths that I for the most despise with the exception of late Japan and later David Sylvian (who's music I adore)..in conclusion, for some weird alchemical reason I love this guys music..

Thank you. I adore John Grant but as a depressive I don't know if his overly emotional music and otherworldly voice would be too much for me Live! I know that sounds stupid. I find "Queen Of Denmark" quite painful to listen to (and I mean that absolutely as a compliment). I'm always drawn to expressive, silky, caramel-y, histrionic voices - he uses such poignant language. Reading of his personal history makes me feel some sort of kinship with him - that there is hope in this world.

+LJ K Just watched John's live performance last week at Melbourne. It was indeed powerful and touching. The new album has some more 'upbeat' songs and John enjoyed himself dancing on stage. I felt it was very empowering for a depressed person like myself. Grab any chance you can to see him live.
@shellsbellsification
@shellsbellsification 8 жыл бұрын
He is brilliant live. He is too self aware, I think, to be too depressing. The more upbeat songs get a good go and he dances away quite humorously. The banter between songs is usually light hearted. By the way, the song Queen of Denmark is a revelation live! Go see him if you can. I promise it isn't depressing.
@somebodyelse714
@somebodyelse714 6 жыл бұрын
He's as close to a must see live as there is I think - whether he is solo or with a full band. He's funny and charming and self-deprecating and he has this knack of making songs which about very painful subjects very cathartic and uplifting. And then of course there's his voice....
