looks like Hiatt's playing in E or B, Sonny would be open D or A. Not sure what tunings he uses, but that would be my guess. As good as he is , Cooder gave it a little more bottom, or the bass needs a little more oomph

​@@davidcohen393, that band was the Guilty Dogs, not dirty dogs ---- they were Hiatt's studio and road band for the Perfectly Good Good Guitar tour, with Mike Ward on guitar and Davey Farragher (I think) on bass. I saw them 4 times on that tour and they just kept getting better and better! Mike Ward played a slide solo on Thank You Girl ( from Bring the Family) that would have made Cooder or Landreth sweat bullets (and I'm a huge fan of both)!

Nope, that's Sonny Landreth; Ry wasn't available for the tour to support Hiatt's Bring the Family, so Sonny and the Goners got the gig instead ---- without which I likely wouldn't have heard of Sonny and my life would be duller for it. It wasn't until the Little Village record and tour some 5 or 6 years later that the original Bring the Family crew (Cooder, Nick Lowe, Jim Keltner) got together again for a record and tour (the record was so-so but they were great live).
