Absolutely right Allan. And nobody plays the higher frets like John. That's why they are called Hugheyland.

A Trivia story...When they held Funeral for John Hughey; Buddy Emmons cried. And he had NEVER done that before. So many SG players couldn't believe it! For what it's worth. May Jesus rest the precious Souls of John and Buddy. Amen!

I played with him on stage in Magee, Ms. He was a very nice fellow. Great musician.

A lot good players, but very few have their own distinction. That shake he gives in his playing, I believe it is called phrasing. I play steel and don’t know all the fancy lingo, but I know John when I hear him.

Does anyone have any of John Hughey's CDs that they would be willing to sell to me?

Not sure but it sounds a lot like Stuart Duncan's style.
