Was this the same event where Italo got caught inside and water rescue couldn't reach him? Scary moments!

Here is a true world surfer champion like Medina, Ethan, Jack, but Griffin no way. Here is a video worth watching. Hopefully, the WSL stop overrating Griffin performance, and stealing hit wins from the Medina, JJ, and even Ethan. Th WSL judges need to be audited, the latest event they have made significant intended wrong judgments. Finally, look on what great wave size this video presents, a true world class even with the biggest challenge for a contender the wave size. The WSL should not perform events unless the wave sizes are overhead, or even double overhead. I hope these recommendations will be taken seriously by the WSL, the event is turning into a circus instead of a world class surfing competition.

Absolutely, I 100% agree with you. Last comp at peniche, Medina got so robbed in his heat with Griff. Griff got a 7 and improved his score from an incomplete three turn wave. While Medina does a sketchy floater, blow-tail reverse, and an off the lip and he gets a 6. This just doesn’t make sense.
@tzt11829 ай бұрын
@@Koa.He didn't get a 6. He got a 7.77 which was very appropriate for what he did on that wave. It deserved no more than an 8. The floater wasn't sketchy at all and the blow tail wasn't anything major or progressive. The only good turn on that last wave was his first ODL. I am not a huge Griff fan but I believed he won that heat fairly.

You need to re watch that heat with Griff and Medina. Griff wasn't under scored and Medina wasn't over scored. It is sad that so many Brazilian fans keeping crying fall if they lose just one heat. They have literally won 7 out of the last 9 world titles but they still complain.

@@tzt1182 Thank you for the details and I respect your take and I think they both surfed really well in that heat. I’m not crying over his loss I just think it was a little unfair for griff to get that high of a score on an incomplete. However I think Griff deserves the win as he’s worked so hard to get to where he is. Emotions aside thank you for the criticism and I still really enjoyed watching that event. 🤙🏽

JJF is the best and usually wins when the waves get gnarly, and if you win contests when the waves suck, cool I guess, but I will probably never watch a re run of an 8.5 air rev in 3’ waves.. this bells performance is timeless

I still think these guys would do better with bigger boards. Less chatter during down time. One bottum turn up the face instead of 2

Should say was* not were, also I'm guessing you haven't watched both of them from the water, which I can tell you Medina surf flat on the wave as opposed to vertical which is much harder, though you are probably Brazilian so that's all that matters to you.

@@jamrock42447 The Layback's JJF overscored, backhand surfing in Bells is very hard
@headmondronary21279 ай бұрын
I thought both surfed equally well but John managed to get more turns in per wave and more critical turns in the heat.
@headmondronary21279 ай бұрын
@@surfistaprateado2060are you suggesting handicap points for backhand at bells? Does that mean Madina should be handicapped against other backhand surfers at bells because he's better at understanding the wave? But then you'd have to go through the natural footers too. Hell why not just create a marshmallow tour where everyone is exactly the same so it's "fair" on those that aren't as good. Tough shit I say!

Just looking at the cover shot there on this post with the layback off the top. Nah. Seen much better in the 80s. I know his skills are top notch, but has the wrong approach. He's trying to maximize Level of Difficulty or something. It's just not making for a good turn. It's just an opinion, oc, but worth stating. It was better in the 80s. Put it on the RAIL. Use that RAIL. tldr; we just really *** ONLY *** want to see the SURFING. don't put 'em through the rest of it - we just don't want it.
