MrOuchiez *Yeah we are. The Cubs organization said it was not his fault. After they did win the World Series, Steve Bartman received a World Series ring. Bartman chose not do interviews. That is his choice. So many people apologized to him in so many ways, but the simple TRUTH is that you cannot go back and change things. The fans were frustrated at the time. I don't blame them for their frustration anymore than I blame Steve Bartman. Other people had their hands out too. It just happened that Bartman had a glove. End of story. Move on.*

Not a baseball fan, but this reached out far beyond baseball fans. They ruined this poor guy's life. Correct me if I'm wrong but every article I've read said nobody has heard from Bartman since. Like it was said in the video, he didn't make the Cubs choke and lose. Every fan who goes to those games hopes a foul ball comes their way. It's instinct to catch it. I hope the media and fans who dragged this guy's name through the mud are ashamed of themselves and hope Bartman eventually found peace after enduring the nonsense and ridicule he didn't deserve for so many years.

the Cubs organization invited him back, offered him a vip appearance, and many fans expressed deep sympathies and sorrow to him. he'd actually get donations from the sympathetic fans and he'd give them away to diabetes organizations because of Ron santo. some fans even tried raising money to send him to the wild card game last year and he still turned it down. I really hope one day that he knows how sorry we are and that we really want him back at Wrigley.

Steve did what I and anyone else would have done. It was not his fault. All the grief he has received is not fair and makes Cubs fans look like idiots. Alou threw a temper tantrum that would have shamed a 6 year old girl. Dusty Baker should have had all the players meet at the mound to settle things down, but he did not. Mark Prior was rattled. Alex Gonzalez made a costly error. The Cubs choked it away. Hell, the choked away a 4-0 lead in Game 1 and lost it.

Bartman's interference wasn't even the inning-ending out - Juan Pierre doubled with 1 out and Mark Prior was 110 pitches in by the time he threw that infamous pitch to Louis Castillo. Prior led the majors in pitches per start that year, but EVEN with that it just isn't smart to keep him in that game with a 3-0 lead that clinches the pennant. If Prior had come out after 7 IP, I fully believe the Cubs would have won that game. Dusty Baker lost your pennant, folks. Not some guy with a pair of headphones.

Steve Bartman and Bill Buckner shared a lot of similarities in each of their situations. Buckner has something terrible happen to him on the biggest stage in sports, and was vilified for it by Boston fans and media alike, and like Dan Patrick said he answered every question and he took the blame for it, and it wasn’t until after they went after his family that he finally said enough, and moved his family to Idaho, away from it all. The fact that he returned to Boston years later, had to be gut-wrenching for him. Bartman never took a dime, never capitalized on the situation, and has never been back to Wrigley since then. I hate it for Bartman , because it took the joy from what he had for the game and turned it into pain and sorrow.

The worst part about this is that he isn't the only fan reaching for it. He should have thought ahead of time what NOT to do in that situation, as a Cubs fan in a series-clinching game...aside from not being the only fan going for it, he didn't reach out too terribly far. It was so soooo close to the fence and he's looking up. I believe most fans would have done the same as him in that situation..unless they thought ahead of time "DONT GO FOR A FOUL BALL"....we will never know what would have been had he not interfered, unfortunately.

If you look closely, Bartman didn’t even tip the ball. It was the guy next to him. Bartman did hit it also but it wasn’t his fault.

I say if the Cubs make it to the World Series or win it! They try and convince him to throw out the ceremonial first pitch either at the World Series or Opening Day 2017.

Bartman doesn't want to be seen in public...as our great president Theo Epstein said, he deserves to be left alone. All the media retards and idiotic fans are too stupid to understand this.

He did the same as any other fan sitting in that seat would have done. Bartman had nothing to do with the Cubs choking. Gonzalez muffed double play was the start of the choke. Gonzalez makes the play the Cubs are out of the inning and chances are they would have gone on to the world series.

CUBS FAN HERE, CUBS BLEW THE LEAD AND BLAMED IT ON BARTMAN. HONESTLY THE DEFINITION OF SORE LOSERS. And I love the cubs but like it’s embarrassing. That outfielder had zero class, I doubt in 2016 or even now one of our outfielders would have been far more composed if that happened. Him throwing a huge fit amplified the hate of the surrounding fans

NOW, since the Cubs have finally won a world series, the fans should un-knot their panties and leave Bartman alone. No, a better idea, he should throw out the first pitch on opening day 2017 and name a suite after him. Hey, in this day in age, I give major credit to anyone who CHOOSES to avoid publicity and turns down a dime of easy money. Way to go Steve Bartman, good for you!

It was just as much as the pitchers fault int hat game for choking , Then it was that Bartman reached his arms out to catch the ball . For all we know the ball may have never been caught at all by Moises Alou.
