It’s still unbelievable. On the day before he passed away Dave and I had contact. He was hopeful and optimistic, realistic as well. He was happy to be home again. We will remember John. Thank you for this ‘in memoriam’.

John Kelman was deeply knowledgeable and passionate about music and was so generous with his time. I enjoyed reading his thoughts, insights, and reactions. John exposed me to so much more music and expanded my horizons. He will be greatly missed.

Dave was a real treasure in the world of jazz music, a great resource of information to many of us. He was also a real "mensch" and I was glad to have had a great deal of email contact and two phone calls with him over the years. I was so sad that his last years were so difficult because of his health and he certainly died too soon. I am one of many who will miss Dave.

Thanks for that, Rick. His contributions to the io (and formerly Yahoo) Pat Metheny list will surely be missed.

Thank you guys. Jkelman, as he was known on the Progressive Ears message board , is being eulogized there, as he deserves. I've been reading his comments for a couple of decades now. They were all time well spent. I am so sorry that he is gone.

Thanks Bill, he certainly deserves it. If there's something I missed out in the video that deserves a shout, please do so.

The coroner said he died on the morning of the 9th. He actually died on the morning of the 10th
