@@JCTiggs1 I think the relevance is that it's recently come out that Ellen is a major B-word when the cameras are off and the spotlight is not on. The point is that the person people are on camera and the person they are in private, when they think no one is watching, or no one that matters is watching, can be quite different.

I hope Colbert keeps this format. SO MUCH better than the old studio formula. Colbert is a lot more irreverent. Makes inside jokes. Even the interview was more personable and awesome.

@Chris Albert I half agree with you. It's true, this format probably won't work with everybody. The guest has to have that openness, and that charm about them. You also said "if the guest isn't responsive or personable", but I feel like it's not going to be any better with a studio audience.

Well, that is the only means by which we live on... whether he meant it that way or not, his answer is about as accurate as it gets. A bleaker, yet equally true, answer from Ricky Gervais on what happens after you die: the same thing as before you were born (i.e. non-existence).

@@pidayrocks2235 I think Reeves' quote was related to the tragedies in his own life (best friend died of overdose, daughter was stillborn, girlfriend died in car accident) and how it affected him. Reeves has been quoted as being spiritual, believing in God. I don't think think his quote should be construed, even if unintentional, as having a parallel meaning to Gervais's.

@Deep Cut Reactions That’s actually a good point, I think all the best action films are drama films with action scenes in them to resolve a conflict, since they tend to centralize on the characters rather than flashy action scenes. “Terminator 2: Judgement” for example has a lot more drama (and I guess sci fi) than action scenes in it to build up John, Sarah, and the T-800 with three long action set pieces to give the characters an obstacle (the T 1000) and the form to resolve it which is through action .

I listened to it not knowing what it was, then learned about its composer Sol Weinstein and how it got into mr Darin's setlist. Wonderful composition, as a milennial I love it. Really brings the concept of showbiz to life. or vice versa!

Did you find the performance John mentioned? I read his last show was at the Las Vegas Hilton in 1973, but that was a residency not a tour (John said tour). I’ve found a few live Bobby Darin performances, but none mention they were his last.

thanks John for your song of life Bobby Darin's the curtain falls. I was a fan in the day and remain one. He had a hard life but he was a great performer: harmonica, guitar, drums and gave Jimmy Durante a great evening. He could sing very well. I watch Linda Ronstadt singing Long, long time with him. He played guitar and sang but I think he couldn't continue due to health issues. Thank you for bringing that tune to mind.
