College buddy introduced him to me in 1997. Still love listening to him. Sound is multi-generational and timeless.

anyone who dislikes this must have no soul or unable to feel every word and note so deep within that it rattles your bones and digs its way into your soul. that is what John Lee Hooker's music does to me

I love how they just have him walk on like that in the beginning!!! Such a badass!

Now this is the blues in its purest form. Can't replicate this smoothness these days. Voice So smooth goes down like a good whiskey

I’ve heard this many times and I always cry. His mama followed him down to that freight train yard. Plus toward the end he seems to slip into a trance- his eyes roll up. God I love the Hook.

seein' the blues brothers movie in 80 when i was 5 introduced me to the blues, and glad it did. now i've had a lifelong appreciation for hooker, and taj mahal, and elmore james, and ray charles, and robert johnson, r.l. burnside and so many more. great to see him here lookin' so young

So much humanity in him, what a great artist.

And this what i love, no autotune, no filtering, just pure hardcore blues/soul. And no artist in our time period can reproduce the same formula because they are all fake, no heart and appreciation for the art
@Joaco02137 жыл бұрын
Gadgetlava I don't know if we can say that about all the artists of our time. Art changes throughout the years, not because today the rithm or the style are differents it means that they suck. Art doesn't know about styles, but the thing is the soul, and that's all what blues and the past artists had more in common than today.

I would say for me it's: Lightnin' Hopkins, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, and John Lee Hooker.
@Wildmanfan11 жыл бұрын
I would say between 50-57 because this was a performance in the American Folk Blues Festival from 1964-67, so if JLH was born in 1917, it would place him between 54-57.
