Lennon was a true rebel. He was never afraid to speak truth to power and take on the establishment of his time. He had a strong mind and a sharp tongue. Most people that make it in life follow the masses and play it safe. Lennon wasn´t like that, and he ultimately paid with his life. But we should treasure people like him, they´re a rare breed.

Buried Lennon: Here are links to the older and even wiser Lennon's two most important and therefore buried tracks that noone wants or dares to talk about - let alone sing out loud in public. Yet this is really what Lennon lived and died for: 1) "Freda Peeple" - with lyrics kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4LFe3uKgaeUkK8 2) "Gimme Some Truth" kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmKqgHlqfMSEoJo kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZPLnKewoKyifpI - Believe me guys - after a few sing-throughs you will be hooked. John knew his craft. Come on people - if you really wanna celebrate Lennon's most important legacy you'd be belting out these two almost taboo tracks at the top of your voices anywhere and everywhere - now more than ever. The whole entire world needs to hear this song. It needs to be blasted on repeat on the battlefields of Ukraine and in the Kremlin. And at the false Communist leadership in Beijing for the Uyghurs. Free The People NOW! But most importantly this song needs to be piped into every mansion of the American ruling class. If you don't free the people now, our entire species will go extinct in less than 50 years. The 1% don't understand, their bunkers are not going to save them. Climate Change is going to wipe the super rich off the planet too along with us peasants. And even IF the ruling class does somehow survive all the death and destruction; there are fates worse than death. Soylent Green! for example Those rich sons of bitches will envy the dead. Mark My Words....

Was 14 in 1964. John Lennon to me was the most important voice for freedom worldwide. Lennon was for the people and in his short time on Earth blessed humanity seeking love and peace between nations. My favorite all time singer, antiwar leader and being a strong peace advocate. That's why he died.

Growing up in Cleveland in the 1970's, WMMS played this song during the Watergate hearings. They had to edit out the "jerking off each other" reference after some complaints. I had all but forgotten it until I heard it at the end of "Children of Men," which brought it back to me. A great, great, underappreciated Lennon song.

The song is from Lennon´s album Mind Games 1973. It is a masterpiece! It´s a pitty it is not more known! What failed? It´s three songs i it. In every part the tension increases. Lennon is the only one who could create an increasing tension.

I consider myself educated in Beatles and post-Beatles music history and I have never heard this. I'm here because I heard it playing over the end credits of Children of Man. I recognized Lennon's voice and it was like a shot of salvation.

Yes, that´s often typical for Lennon. Before Lennon the structures mostly was AABA, with a decreasing tension in the B. Other examples are I Should Have Known Better. And Hapiness is a Warm Gun, consisting of three melodies with an increaing tension. In All You Need Is Love you have at first a talking, then a halfsinging and finally a climax. Bring on Lucie ought to have been more known, but lennon wasn´t the same PR genius as McCartney.

You dont recognize the song because you were a product of the top 40 radio stations who played songs they were instructed to or which they deemed hits. They hit it on the nose with Mindgames but there were other tracks on the album that were very good like this one Seems that most only know Lennon for the song Imagine

I guess nice melodies sells better than nice and ingenius lyrics. Thats the difference between Paul McCartney and John Lennon. But in the end, John's songs meant more to the world.

@@reggierubio2893that's not true at all, both John and Paul wrote songs that made the world take pause. We can talk about this song "Freda People" and how it was intended for a global audience, but it's not as personal as a song like "She's Leaving Home" which I guarantee you affected millions worldwide. Both are geniuses lyrically.

That’s funny, literally the first line isn’t inline with the majority of english already (nationalism, patriotism, etc, are certainly rampant). Surely you can’t make something an anthem whereby its lyrics are fundamentally at odds with the people’s psyche.

Lennon was way ahead of his time. He was against the Vietnam war, for women´s rights, for the civil rights movement, for legalization of marijuana. Just very progressive for his time. Nowadays what he was fighting for is considered obvious, but back then he caught ALOT of flack. Hunted by the FBI, the Nixon administration, the media etc.

Who are “we?” I asked that question when the album came out. There wasn’t a hippy movement, an anti war movement etc. it had fallen apart. In a few years it was the self centered disco crowd. They only cared about themselves and cocaine!
