I was born the day The Beatles broke up. My dad 18 was their greatest fan. So I grew up with the music. I was 10 when John was killed. And his death hit me hard. Changed my religion. How u ask? I was a Catholic in Catholic school I arrived that day in tears my nun said dont cry for a man who thought he was more than god...his words were twisted by media he never said it but it lead me to explore other Faith's. John, despite his human flaws, which can easily be traced back to his early childhood, essentially had a loving heart which he wanted to share with the world, so that he, and us , could feel more as One. And ultimately, he had the resolve to evolve and try to become a better human being. John had the courage to bare his tormented soul for all to witness, and it is this very essence that resonates so profoundly til this very day. What an amazing gift. Thank You, Johnny!

Look, John Lennon DID have a unique soul. But the more unique they are for better or for worse they can cause harm even when they do good. Julian unfortunately was in the crossfire of that when he saw him as more of a chain so he does deserve to use his legacy considering how he was basically disinherited in the will. I'm not going out against either because I like John Lennon's work but you have to admit that Julian was kinda screwed
@bobbywilde92474 жыл бұрын
@@johnrainone1262 John was screwed, as you say, Julian was screwed, I was screwed, and from your sentiment it sounds like you were screwed too. Everyone gets screwed sometimes throughout their lives, but it is the power of Love and Forgiveness that ultimately frees and heals us from such pain. Julian has made his peace with his Father, to the point where he can actually comprehend the behavior that John himself identified as horrible. I hope that you, and anyone who has experienced such trauma, can also find peace and forgiveness in their hearts and minds as Julian has. Peace.

This song also seems strange to me, that sound so from the 60s and 70s, so tragic, his voice so strange in this song, with tranquility and at the same time suspense, a song like from a dream where you sleep deeply and you travel in the dream and unreality. Although I was born in 1989, those 70s seem untouchable, the people there were superhuman, very far from my reality, it is such a strange feeling.
@ModerateObserver5 ай бұрын
@@josiahwhit5730 Nice description. I feel like Lennon himself was in some ways living through a dream from the mid-70s on. Trying to live something like a normal life in the present, trying to figure out what to do, who to be. But always with the truly extraordinary -- almost cosmic -- legacy of the Beatles looming over him. This and Dream Number 9 capture that dreamlike feeling of being suspended between the 60s past and some difficult-to-imagine future.

Not gonna lie, this video made me have to wipe a few tears away. Yesterday would have been John Lennon's 84th birthday, and looking at this video and seeing him walking around NY and looking happy really made me think of how much he, his family and friends, and we, his fans, missed out on by his death. Someone pointed out in another comments section that John Lennon's been dead longer than he'd been alive, and that's a sobering thought. I was 10 when he was murdered, and at that age, 40 is "old". Now that I'm in my 50s, I realize just how young he was.

If you combine with Paul, George Martin and George Harrison (Ringo was not), I would say he was the most. He shaped Western culture in a way that impact us even today. Europe and USA fashion, music, culture, cinema, design, and even youth behaviour would be totally different if they had not become famous. Western music was following a path of shallowness (Four Seasons, Beach Boys, Supremes, Everly Brothers) that are good music, and only someone from the inside like the beatles could change Pop music and with that the world. I have so many examples.

I'm sitting here thinking back, remembering 1974. How the world was slower. Me, spending summer days with live music in the park. Having a beer, smoking a joint under a willow tree while a gentle breeze assured me everything will be okay. Hanging out with friends in person. Now it's by phone or 6 feet apart. The breeze is no longer gentle. It brings smoke from California wildfires. I can still have a beer and smoke a joint but it will take 20 years to rebuild the global economy. The best years of our generation will remain behind us. [Unless we do something about it.]

I remember watching Monday Night Football 40 years ago today, December 8, 1980. The Miami Dolphins vs The New England Patriots. I remember rooting for one team, although I cant remember which, because it had some sort of potential playoff implications for my Buffalo Bills. Towards the end of the regulation game, a scroll came across the bottom of the screen saying a former Beatle had been shot in NYC. It didn't say who, or what kind of physical condition they were in. Immediately, I thought of Paul McCartney. Paul had been busted for Marijuana possession in Japan earlier that year, and although improbable, the only thing I could think of was maybe some kind of drug deal gone bad. I remember hoping he'd be okay. Then, a short while later, Howard Cosell interrupted the game and said it was John Lennon, that he had been shot in the back, that he was rushed to the hospital, and that he was pronounced dead on arrival. I remember standing up from my chair in disbelief. All of a sudden, this game that meant so much to me only moments earlier meant absolutely nothing. The impact of knowing the Beatles would never, ever reunite was overwhelming. And that a man of peace was so brutally gunned down for no apparent reason was really unbearable at the time. My heart goes out to his family on this sad anniversary. Rest in Peace John Lennon.

Lennon was one of those extremely rare individuals that when he was alive you probably were never going to meet in person but just knowing he was out there somewhere being John Lennon made you feel better about Life...& when he was taken away so abruptly one could really feel that the Forces of Good ( i know that sounds corny) had taken a serious hit on the Psychic Plane - someone could probably describe it better than that but there was a real tangible sense that Things Had Changed Big Time and Not for the Better Too..hope that made sense...the loss of Lennon still reverberates 43 years later all over the world.

I stood outside the Dakota one day when he was still alive, but not in town and I sobbed for over an hour non-stop. Not because he was supposedly in Japan, but because I was so close and breathing the same air. He has had a profound affect on me and I still can't completely explain why.

@cboyle707 Since argon is a component of air, actually 20 times more abundant than carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, every atom of argon that we inhale are then exhaled essentially unchanged and goes back into circulation. In every breath we take, we inhale and exhale 10¹⁸ atoms of argon. These atoms, remain in the atmosphere essentially unchanged, to be inhaled again and again throughout time. It is certain, therefore, that in every breath you take, you have inhaled at least several atoms of argon that have also been inhaled by Einstein, and Newton before him, Mohammad, Christ, and John Lennon etc. So even in his absence from your proximity , you may well have breathed in some Argon which was once in John Lennon's lungs We are all connected this way❤

Loved Lennon's humour and wit - there was no other rock star who had that type of sheer spikey sharp charisma that Lennon had..nobody could put a smile on people's faces faster than Lennon when he was on his game.. simply a unique force in so many ways....truly one of the greats of the 20th Century

difficult to even imagine visiting NYC in the seventies, and just seeing John Lennon walking around.

Very foolish and naive of him. Evil was all around (and still is). Evil only understands one thing: DEATH PENALTY. Listen up, New Yorkers. You are WEAK, compared to your ancestors.

My father FRANK NANIA had a barber shop at 66th street Central Park West - New York City - just 6 blocks South of the Dakota Building that JOHN LENNON lived at on 72nd street and Central Park West - JOHN LENNON + wife Yoko often walked by the barber shop - My father FRANK NANIA would call out to JOHN LENNON -"HEY JOHN YOU WANT A HAIRCUT TODAY" - and JOHN LENNON would always answer " NOT TODAY FRANK " - wow what memories - Joe Nania

What a handsome, delightful man. I love seeing him with those kids. He looks so kind. I know he had his moments, he wasn't always nice, but this song and this video picks out the best of him. How could it be that 4 young boys just happened to get together in Liverpool and change the world?

That is a bit of a myth. Yes, he was a provocateur, a rebel, he could rile you up. He also wouldn´t bullshit, so he could be brutally honest. But by most accounts of what he was like in private says he was very sweet and humane.
