The Beatles songs that moved me the most were all written by George Harrison. His songwriting spoke volumes, his thoughtful, spiritual and contemplative nature were his greatest gifts, and deeply embedded in his songs.

John Lennon and George Harrison were, as far as I am concerned, the true heart and soul of The Beatles. They gave so much to the world of music and the world at large. Even in their solo careers, they continued to delight and amaze. Popular music has never been the same without them.

George had said...."My biggest break in life was joining theBeatles....my second biggest break was leaving the Beatles."It was a pleasure to finally hear the LP, All Things Must Pass".All those songs that George could finally put on an album, thatthat never made it unto the Beatles records.

I've made my own personal collection of George songs during the Beatles, and I have to say, it's just as an enjoyable listen as any of it. You can definitely see how he progressed as a song writer. I think it's something that Olivia and Dahne should consider releasing themselves, if they can legally do it.

George Martin is always honest when he talks about George's songwriting, about how he overlooked him because of the "shadow" he was in. But he always has no problems saying he should have paid a bit more attention to him, especially during "Rubber Soul", the sitar on "Norwegian Wood", "Taxman" on Revolver, then really taking off on the White Album, and of course "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun" on Abby Road, arguably two of the best Beatle songs ever, I.M.O.

+Dexter Haven Who cares what Sinatra said about George's song. Harrison has more talent in his little toe, than Frank has in his whole body. Sinatra, like Elvis, never wrote a song in his life!! Any 50's crooner, can do what Sinatra did, and any male singer can "sound like" Elvis. (Tony Bennet's voice was the best of the era, far superior to Sinatra). Harrison, in any other band would have been the leader. Apples, and oranges. John, Paul, George, and Ringo. The Beatles. Never before, and never again!
@DexterHaven9 жыл бұрын
Duh, Frank was twice the singer and entertainer George was and had tons of fans for 20 years before George was known. And a lot of people "cared" which was Frank's favorite song, dummy. That's why it was news and quoted. Gosh, the idiots on KZbin today! Teresa67 Factoid
@carkenny29 жыл бұрын
Boy, did you even read my Post? I thought it was clear, but apparently Dexter is clueless.(dexter was a great HBO series, so your NAME is cool) . Wow, talk about the idiots on you tube Dexter. Something is one of Frank's favorite songs. Gee, I wonder how that song was created? Every music lover on The planet knows what a great song George wrote, "something" will be recorded, again, and again, and be a classic song forever. Sinatra never wrote a song in his life. Sinatra is just one of many crooners. Tony Bennet was, and still is the best of the classic crooners. Sinatra even said so. Michael Buble, and a host of others can sing Sinatra as good, or even better than he did. Writing a classic song that will live forever? What George Harrison did? That is a total genius, Sinatra could never ever accomplish that.
@DexterHaven9 жыл бұрын
+Teresa67 Factoid You are such a fucking idiot. You just repeat the same nonsense. You said, "Who cares what Sinatra said about George's song." "Don't Bother Me", from their "First" record (really their 2nd called "Meet the Beatles". Their first, released on VeeJay records entitled "Introducing the Beatles", was a record of "covers" and little original material), was a Harrison song, and it's one of my favorite songs on that album! I should like to be able to write anything that good! It's a great song and easily stands up well to anything L&M were writing at that time. One of the rare Harrison songs that COULD have been released as a single. But, that is true about MOST Beatle songs in the early days before they quit touring.

The problem with this series of documentaries is that the makers obviously didn't get permission to use The Beatles', Lennon's & Harrison's music. But these guys were musicians & without including their songs it's hard to do them justice; hence they have to focus on biographical details & peripheral stuff instead of the substance, the music, which - unfortunately for these documentary makers - is what made these guys great & immortal (no matter how many deranged assassins turn up)

If you mean Clapton, yes. Eric waited ages before being with Patty after she split from George around 1974 and it was 2yrs after the divorce in 77 for them to marry or even move in together. George and Eric were also quite aware of their friendship and inter-relationships unlike the public or media makes it out to be. Unfortunately Patty had to deal with the same things from both men, infidelity, stardom, and drug use.

George and Eric ( Clapton ) were very good friends. 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' is a song George wrote, asking Eric if he would help him with the song, Eric asked if it was OK to be a guest on a Beatle's song, George said "why? it's my song". I wasn't a huge Beatle fan, more a 'Stones' Led Zepplin' ( Yardbirds prior ) 'Hendrix', Cream, Doors and Frank Zappa ( but who doesn't like at least a few Beatle's song's though?) 'The Double White ' album is their masterpiece (IMO)...it is my favorite Beatle song. Eric wasn't credited for his guitar playing on the album. I believe George wasn't a brilliant guitar player, but he was the one who played those great 'hooks'. I loved John Lennon and what he represented, a genius and he knew it (everyone else must have looked like fools to him ) I did see Paul McCartney and Wings in Adelaide, Australia in 1974' because I liked their first album 'Ram' and 'Band On The Run', I also just wanted to see one of biggest 'Rock and Rolls' Idols. ( Paul was with Linda then ) they also played Beatle's song's such as 'Yesterday' another great song by Paul. I do agree with John though, Paul did take the Beatles sound with him. 'How Do You Sleep At Night' is a song about Paul stealing 'The Sound of The Beatles'. I enjoyed the upload, thank you. R.I.P. John.

How ironic that they included the comment from John about him wanting to "catch" people who were cashing in on their name by releasing rip-off products back in the day. This documentary is obviously an attempt to do just that. The horrible music by The Overtures is a dead giveaway that it's C-list stuff right from the very beginning. It is mainly just cobbled together bits of news footage and stock interviews with new narration laid over. There are only two "real" interviews that were done for this film. One subject is prevalent throughout the film, but he is incredibly boring, and the other is a "school friend" of George's who just provides a brief anecdote about John interrupting George when he was talking to him when he once went backstage. Riveting!

The factual errors in this film are too numerous to count. Paul did not jump up on the stage to play with the Quarrymen the when he saw John for the first time. Brian Epstein did not die while the Beatles were in India. He passed away during the time of Magical Mystery Tour. The Beatles were at one of Maharishi's lectures in Wales when they got the call with the news of his death. John did not return his MBE in 1973. He did so in 1969. He even jokingly cited Cold Turkey slipping down in the charts as one of his reasons! Was Cold Turkey released in '73? No, it was released in '69. Get your facts straight before you make a video like this!
