Drums were played by Alan White. Better known for his later work with the group Yes, Alan was a member of John's Plastic Ono Band.

Absolutely amazing song. One of my favorite Lennon tunes. And it was also famously used in an amazing 1992 Nike commercial.

Back when John was killed I was 18. I remember them saying things like..."His life was cut short". The gravity of that statement weigh's heavier as time goes by....now that he would be 84 with another dozen or so albums under his belt that we never got to hear. So really, we were all cut short the day he died. Rest in Paradise John.

Now actually, this was a single. From 1970, I believe. Shaved Fish was a Hits album. A nice ditty, with a very nice message for that time period.

It was a single. I still have it somewhere.

Lennon later stated, “I wrote it for breakfast, recorded it for lunch, and we're putting it out for dinner.” Lennon's makeshift band for the day was George Harrison on guitar, his old mate from the Beatles' Hamburg days, Klaus Voorman, on bass, Alan White on drums, and keyboard player Billy Preston.

Woman is the n of the world originally appeared on his album, Sometime in New York City. I won't give the message away. John obviously caught a lot of crap for the title but he makes the case in the lyrics. It's definitely worth a listen.

The Plastic Ono Band was Lennon's most personal record. So stark and prophetic in spots. Give "God" a shot when you find the time. Anything from that first solo effort. "Mother" is deep, too. So happy you're back, Biz. ✌❤
@lovewinsall776 ай бұрын
Interesting, too, Alan White, the drummer on this song, "Instant Karma" joined the band, Yes, after this, in time to play on rehearsals for the Close to the Edge record ("And You and I") then joined full-time on their subsequent records.

Shaved Fish, was his first "greatest hits" -believe it's a Japanese term for Sushi. This was Lennon's 2nd 'single', in 1970. The image you show on screen is a more recent "history" of John's music, remastered by Yoko, and their son Sean. / The lyric "We all shine on" inspired author Stephen King to write his horror novel "The Shinning".

❤ hey dude just wanted you to know I've been watching your reviews for quite a while it's like you and a number of other persons are listening to music that I happen to really enjoy and some of the music our Life changers they made me who I am and I suspect that could happen to you with some of the songs the music and the experience that they have... I don't usually comment because my Smart TV don't lend itself easily to that and I don't like using my phone on the internet... And so like I said you've become like a friend when I'm sitting around at home alone with nothing to do feeling like listening to some good music with somebody.... Thanks

The thing about Lennon & the Beatles was the first time you heard a song by them you could sing along at some point in the track. You are evidence.

Hello Biz, hope all is well with you Paul is Sunshine & Rainbows. John is Grit and Real. That's why they were such a great team in The Beatles. The perfect match. When you get to "Imagine" please do the official 1971 video. "Instant Karma" also has an official live video. "Shaved Fish" was a greatest hits Lp. There's a George song "I'd Have You Any Time" which kicks off his "All Things Must Pass" Lp which was co-written by George and Dylan and has Eric Clapton on it and he plays some lovely guitar on the track. Would have made a great Beatles track and no doubt George had it in his long backlog of songs with The Beatles. Most songs on "All Things Must Pass" he had with The Beatles. That was one big reason he wanted out because John & Paul hogged up most of the Lp's I've never seen "I'd Have You Anytime" reacted too. It's a lovely song and is one of if not my favorite on that album. Do me a solid and do it sometime. I know I would love it and would really appreciate it. Going by algorithms and choosing the most popular ones reacted to doesn't mean there's not a lot of other tracks just as good or better. So many times when reactors dabble into The Beatles, it's always the same few songs. That's one band you can't go algorithms with. Way too many great tracks. I know The Beatles make you nervous but would love to see a little sometime in the future. A video or song gets blocked, contest it and a lot of times after a few weeks U Tube will let you put it up. One must be patient. Oh yeah, there's a great John track "How Do You Sleep" which may have been the first diss track way back in 71. He was taking shots at Paul and George plays a mean slide guitar on it and there's a great official video of it live in the studio. A must watch Biz. Peace ❤

Fantastic track. I always thought the beatles were overrated til i heard this as a teen in the early 90s in an advert on tv. "God" from the 1969 _Plastic Ono Band_ album is a must-hear song for you, Biz. It was controversial at the time because John puts the Beatles to rest along with about everything else people believe in; the last half is wicked beautiful but takes your breath away.
