THIS IS AMAZING!!! - John Lennon with a little help from his friends George Harrison and Ringo Starr Sings Paul McCartney songs - In Sept 1971 John and Yoko decided to leave England for New York - So the night after they arrived in New York they held a Private Party with a selection of close friends including George Harrison and Ringo Starr - Here then is THAT Very Party captured on tape by Neil Aspinal. Enjoy. A splendid time was guaranteed for ALL.

All three of them totally killed the Ram album by Paul in public, but they know it by heart... It almost killed Paul's career. But the Ram album remains a brilliant album that stood the test of time more than any other post Beatle album by any of the four...

“RAM”, the originally misunderstood album masterpiece that was way ahead of its time and set the highest bar for all other Beatles as individuals and for Paul himself. In fact, its mastery was never matched, as much as all four continued to produce fine work. The article shared hereunder is smart and musically sensible enough to give “RAM” the musical justice it deserves. Here’s a mere extract but do access the full content in the link further below. It constitutes a precious and well deserved tribute to a marvelous feat as revolutionary as “Abbey Road” or “Sgt. Pepper”. “…. That attention to the guitar tones points to the larger beauty of Ram: the whole thing just sounds amazing, with a warmth and clarity rarely heard outside of jazz and classical recordings at that time. There is no mush, no desperate layered glue to cover flaws - everything is heard, and everything counts in these arrangements. The orchestral arrangements are, like those in The Beatles’ best work, integral to the instrumentation, rather than grafted on. “The Back Seat of My Car” is gloriously and goofily grandiose, with one of the biggest sounds I am aware of on record in the period, but it never seems to quite get away from itself…. Ram is highly relevant to these art forms, it simply didn’t show much interest in political culture as understood by the rock press of the time…. I think that just about any musician would be thrilled to have created something so beautiful and compelling….” www.culturesonar.com/ram-paul-mccartney/

Can really picture this party though, you really capture their personalities and senses of humour in a wonderful way! Especially John, his witty and partly uncaring/nonchalant personality is something you do perfectly! You even nail the half aggressive undertone! Could really be him!

Love Ringo pushing it on reminding all of the words and George saying they are all so high plus John bossing everyone all through it. Any lyrics will do just keep it going. John was loving it! If Paul had wandered in he would have organised all of them and remade the whole album as a Beatles album 😀 Maybe would have called it "Beatles Get Rammed" ... or words to that effect!

The musical partnership and fellowship between John and Paul may have dissolved by this point. However, as much as John or Paul would’ve tried to deny it, they still had just as much respect for one another as musicians as they always had. I believe they really missed each other after the Beatles had ended; not just for the smash hits, the prestige or the endless money, but for how well they could work off each other to create beautiful and powerful melodies for the world to enjoy. They might have sounded very content to be free from the Beatles label, but when it came to writing new music, both Paul and John knew deep down that something was missing. Something that made their compositions truly magical. If only John had more time to try and relive that magic with Paul, even if for just a short while.
