there was a time when john and yoko needed some time apart. that's not unusual in the history of marriage. yoko suggested he spend some time in los angeles. it was not a happy time for him. we spent a considerable amount of time together and i observed his sadness about his separation from his wife.......and a lifestyle of escapism.
you will rarely hear me say anything of a negative nature about john. but he was not the kind of guy you would like to share a few drinks with. and during his time in l.a., he drank more than he should. when he did, he was not a 'happy drinker'. i witnessed that first hand on multiple occasions. he was always trying to find a way of getting back with yoko.....and returning to new york. eventually, he did ....... and left the palm trees and jacuzzis of l.a. forever.

Elliot , very well.spoken and great insight into Yokos,,role...I do not believe people generally understand this time of growth ....most have a very idealistic view of growth..and do not believe escapism or addiction can actually be a part of someone's growth.

It bothers me quite a lot when people seem to act like he didn’t love Cynthia. He loved her. Was with her for 10 years. She was a class act til the day she died. She was a wonderful mother to Julian and a good wife to John. So really I appreciate you even mentioning her here. It’s treated as if oh he found Yoko so Cynthia doesn’t count now and that’s not fair to Cynthia and especially Julian. Julian counts and Johns first love counts too.

Hi Elliot, If you don't mind fielding a question, I wonder what your thoughts are on john's friendships with Harry Nillson, Keith Moon, and Ringo during his time in LA. Did having these friends around him, particularly Ringo, help him find himself, or just add to his misery by supporting his alcohol and drug fueled lost 18 months? Do you think that Yoko took him back because she pitied him, or because she believed that he was ready and able to be responsible and stand on his own two feet again?

hi charleybones. time does not allow me to respond comprehensively to individual questions on this page. but here are the 'headlines': ringo, harry and keith loved john and he felt the same way about them. john was not in l.a. to 'find himself' or 'wallow in misery'. when it comes to the matter of drink or 'bad behavior', nobody could tell john what to do. he did as he chose. both john and yoko spoke openly about the circumstances surrounding their temporary separation as well as their reconciliation. it is part of the record. everything else would be gossip .... and i do not engage in that. by the way, have you subscribed to this free channel? i'm asking everyone to do that as a reciprocal act of our exchange. you can even use a setting that will notify you each time i post something new.

I had seen the documentary on Harry Nilsson, "The Thing About Harry" a few days ago, and it raised some thoughts about Lennon's relationship with Harry, as well as with Keith Moon and Ringo during the time that they lived together. The general consensus from watching it gave me the impression that John was struggling deeply with things within himself, his frustration of not being able to be with Yoko, and using drinks and drugs to escape. It was stated that at some point Lennon was the first one to come out of the stupor and realize that they were wasting their time. He then offered to help his friend Harry Nilsson produce an album, which ended up being Pussy Cats. While Lennon decided to straighten out, his friends continued to party, and eventually John decided to leave L.A. and this is when Yoko accepted him back. I apologize if my previous came off like I was interested in gossip or looking to dig up dirt. Just trying to understand his friendships at the time. Thank You. I will subscribe to your channel. hi paul. john had the opportunity you described most of his life. it was not as if he missed the party. but if the truth be told, he returned to yoko. it took far more to capture his attention and love than 'some beautiful california girl'.
