I have been listening to, and following John's drumming progression since Origin's "Informis Infinitas Inhumanitas". He has been a continuous source of inspiration and creative excitement. He's a marvel of technique and ability, and an absolute beast when it comes to discipline and practice. People should listen, and listen CLOSE!

John's a cool dude and a good band mate to tour with. He came out with us (Fetus) for a tour in 2004, and he had a very short amount of time to learn the setlist and had no problems with that. Fast as hell tempos, too, very challenging to keep up with night after night.

FormulaKimball Those were some of the best years you were with them! Even though you are not with them now you are still apart of Dying Fetus and there music. My 2 favorite albums are “Destroy The Opposition” and “Stop At Nothing”. If you played with the band live in 2003 then I saw you at Brew Ha Ha’s next to Ziggy’s In Winston-Salem NC. It was an awesome show and great sound (I’ve played there too in the Death Metal Band I was in at the time.) Once again thank you for the inspiration and contribution to music.

Can i ask if this is the famous 'triggers' that John is using or am i wrong ? I'm not a drummer, sadly, but like to follow few drummers and try to understand the more i can from this amazing World 😅
@innie721

Not quite sure what you're asking, the majority of metal drummers use triggers on their bass drums though
@JellyRoger_XIII
@JellyRoger_XIII 4 жыл бұрын
@@innie721 Yup i know, but i never seen it in details. Usually, even with a dedicated cam on the bass pedals, during a song is not that easy, for me at least, to understand if they are using triggers or not. Don't get me wrong, i'm not thinking is a way to cheat, i understand many of them are using triggers and it's pretty ok if u record/live better with it. Just curiosity 😜
@Zackmild.
@Zackmild. 4 жыл бұрын
@@JellyRoger_XIII hey bud. Most people who use axis drum pedals they use the triggers that axis offers and they are called axis E-kit or electronic conversion kit for the triggers and they attach to the pedals so its hard to see them. They also have ones that mount to the bass drum hoop but they misfire more so people tend to use pedal mounted triggers. Cheers!

@@Zackmild. Thank You man, truly appreciated ! 👍🏻 Asked about cuz when John use the pedal, in some occasion seems to me that the sound is doubled, but sometimes he go too fast, and in double pedal, so i lose what happened 😂. Just to explain why its difficult to my non-expert eyes/ears to fully understand and recognize triggers on or off. But as i said,just curiosity,nothing more. Thanks again bro, may the Music be always with ya ! 🤘🏻😈🤘🏻
@Zackmild.
@Zackmild. 4 жыл бұрын
@@JellyRoger_XIII well the sound in this video is doubling because he's hitting the bass drum twice per foot. People call it heel toe or just simply double strokes. Its like doing double strokes with your hands but with your feet. 2 hits per stroke

I wish I could get music notation on how exactly he does his blasts.I know how to do double strokes on my feet like he does.I just don't understand how he puts it together with his hands to do blast beats.I wish I could find some music notation for it.
@xBaphometHx
@xBaphometHx Жыл бұрын
It depends on the blast beat we are talking about, but the regular one evening the hits of the snare and the hihat would be 8th notes with hands and 16 with the feet.
@roberthagmaier9603
@roberthagmaier9603 Жыл бұрын
@xBaphometHx I mean just the Traditional 2 foot blast.I seen a video of him talking about doing doubles on the feet for blasts.I assumed it was just how you do the regular 2 foot traditional blast but using doubles on the feet.I wasn't totally shure if that was how it was done.I just can't find much notation online about double strokes for blast beats.Just double strokes for regular double bass.
@xBaphometHx
@xBaphometHx Жыл бұрын
@@roberthagmaier9603 I don't quite understand what you say. He plays heel toe when he plays 16th notes on the double bass, which implies playing 2 hits with one foot and 2 with the other consecutively. Other drummers play either ankle technique or swivel technique, which uses singles with each foot.

@@roberthagmaier9603 with heel toe (the technique that John uses) yes. With other drummer's techniques, it is singles but using different motions, and of course it is harder for the muscles.

If it sounds like double bass drumming on a practice pad than its not cheating in my opinion. Its not as if guitar players don’t use a plethora of electronics to obtain the sound they desire. But when a drummer does people give flack. D’oh!
