I'm all about Wobble/Levene-era PiL but even I have to admit they killed it on this one. They knocked Chant right out of the park. Say what you will about Lydon, but he knows how to surround himself with good personnel.

Here is a clear example of how brilliant the Levine, Wobble, Lydon, Atkins PIL line up compared to the later PIL. MEtal Box, First Edition, Second Edition, PIL live in Paris etc etc far better than the shit he later released.

I don't know man, PiL 1978-83 (Levene years) is a completely different band to PiL 1986-1992 yet I love both. 83-85 had no discernible line-up, just several touring "cabaret" acts. John found a great band in 86 with McGeoch, Lu Edmonds, Bruce Smith and Allan Dias. They had great songs, like Seattle, Body, Warrior, Cruel to name a few. Besides, you need to consider the song 'Bags' seen here performed before Chant, was absolutely nothing to do with either of these line-ups, its actually a product of the 1985 touring band with Jebin Bruni and Mark Schulz. Also I have to add, what did Martin Atkins contribute to any of the albums you just listed except for drumming on one song for Metal Box and being the drummer on the Paris Au Printemps live album? He wrote absolutely nothing on any of those albums, yet he was responsible for writing contibutions on the uncontested worst PiL album, 'This Is What You Want...' (seriously, it cannot be understated how poor this album is - it's symbolic of everything wrong with those 83-84 cabaret years) Also, Second Edition is literally the same album as Metal Box. I don't know, your comment seems to be based in ignorance

To me Rise and that album in particular was label influenced and tbh I don't mind it. But the rest is garbage and I'm not the only PIL fan to say it.
