Awesome. I'm sure all the punkers in the house were thrilled. One of my favorite times in music history, so much going on: hardcore, post punk, new wave, goth, rockabilly, early thrash, etc.
@dannycheesums5 жыл бұрын
I think this is totally in keeping with Lydon’s ethos, as opposed to unintentionally cringeworthy. The Pistols had the aim of getting up people’s noses, and this arrangement proves that doing that to the Pistol’s own fans wasn’t off the table. Plenty of people wanted PiL to be Pistols 2, and it never was going to be, and I take this performance to be a big “fuck you” to them
@ronb5714 Жыл бұрын
I dunno, sometimes I feel that whatever Rotten/Lydon does, someone somewhere will defend even the terrible stuff as “Yeah, this is a big FU to the people who expected him to do it well.” I think this is a bit rubbish, personally. But each to their own.

Lydon always said that the Pistols were "Too Conventional" this version of "Arnachy" is even more conventional Rock N Roll with the piano and top class musicians. He's actually making a very bold statement here. That he's not afraid to acknowledge his past and having been "Johnny Rotten" but also that he's not afraid to take the piss out of what the Pistols were and stood for.

Oh the Liberties of HINDSIGHT what??! We get the 'joke' as u call it..Now. They were ALL/WAYs at their crap'o'gimmickist when Sid was on the tage and Not poor ol Glen.. We often hear John slag all that bands (I'll call it 'MIRAGE') BUT, how many bands you know of make JUST ONE ALBUM and here we are look, still discussing them 42(3)yrs after it!!!? How can anyone deny that Nevermind.... IS one of the best ROCK'n'ROLL albums ever recorded?? John has all the BAGGAGE of Malcom's ab/Use of 4 young men who didnt have the Business acumen, just a pure Will to DO Something. Johnny 'lost' his best buddy in it; trickery like Grundy was most likely a weekly event. Even there u can see his intellect to NOT BE 'Their' puppy. What a Whirlwind for them all in such a short space of time... John will still cry over John Beverly's MIRAGE as 'Sid Vicious' - 1st the mother, then Nancy. Believe me R.Saiyaman; twas no JOKE. AND:- ''..what the Pistols stood for'' you say. WHAT do you mean by that??? It's the *Two Blind Men Feeling Elephants* thing isn't it. I'm pretty darn Zen sure that THEY(or 4 other Pub Rock bands just akin to them) HAD TO HAPPEN -Then AND There. The album name; Johns intellect; AnOK4UK & God Save the Queen... Mission ACCOMPLISHED !!!! Mind yerself bub, lee.
