John MacArthur's Strong Words at Essential Church Premiere

John MacArthur has a new documentary featuring him coming to a few theatres this coming week and he had some strong words for pastors while he introduced the documentary.

God has used the expository preaching and pastoral ministry of John MacArthur to rescue me from a life trapped within the Mormon Church… I was born and raised as a Mormon and my wife and I were married in the temple. Had John MacArthur not stood up to California and it’s tyranny, I would not have been exposed to the Gospel of Jesus and would probably still be a struggling, broken man. I am grateful for John and the work the Lord is doing through his ministry.

Why didn't you play his next couple sentence? It puts it in context. His point is, that he didn't see enough pastors putting God first above all. John wants to encourage and sometimes that needs to be done through conviction. Obey the government yes until it goes against God’s will and commandments. Look things are going to get worst with attacks on the church. We have to be ready to pay the consequences and have the courage to expel truth and do what God commands no matter what.

Sounds as if you don’t agree with many of MacArthur’s teachings. You said “cultlike”?? But back to my point.. he said “make them feel guilty” within the context of disobedience to God vs obedience to the government. It’s not so much about what he feel’s personally. I think you feel it’s about personal retribution for him..that’s what I’m getting at least from this commentary.

It sounds like he is saying that the fact that he won shows that he was right. And he's right. That lawsuit showed that the government was overstepping it's boundaries. Yes, this video should make anyone who said that we shouldn't defy the government when they overstep us feel guilty.

Respectfully I am neither taking your side fully nor am I completely defending John MacArthur because quite frankly I am completely perplexed with this guy. The Eileen Gray thing really screwed me up man. I mean what are you supposed to do when your hero lets you down? (obviously he should not have been elevated to hero in the first place) but regardless someone that has shaped your entire outlook on theology, lets you down it hurts to be honest, he was a massive part of the storyline(if I may elaborate a bit) to my conversion/salvation. Obviously Solas Christus but I think you know what I meant. Seriously though half of my books are some of his, I mean do we anathematize him, quit listening to him, don't read his material anymore? I just have conflicting emotions when it comes to this guy. I mean I did spend like $250 on my MacArthur Study Bible, but it just feels wrong almost to utilize it in my day to day studies now knowing that he would openly and publicly shame a woman who was getting abused by a man HE had on staff. I mean we as proper Calvinists (lol) would not throw Jean Cauvin out the door just because of the incident with Servetus, or Luther when he was in the same castle location as a man (Fritz Erbe) who died spending 7 years in the castle dungeon over not recanting his views on BAPTISM! Sorry this is long winded but its just been on my mind, and you're the main guy that talks about him without brown nosing him. Would appreciate any council you have to give on this matter. Thanks

I hear ya. It’s hard to know what to do. I don’t think there’s a right answer for someone like him. So I’d say follow your conscience. Mine has led me to not recommending his works to others, but I still even to this day use some of his books as references in my own studies. Shocking I know! 😜

It's also worth noting that she was censured by the Colorado Supreme Court on March 8 this year for "a pattern of misconduct" involving "dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation" with "selfish motive." No word on what church discipline she received.

No, that's not exactly true. If you go to Julie Roys' website, you will read HER SPIN on things that happened at MacArthur's church. Not exactly what happened, but her very obvious spin on it. I'm kinda saddened by this video, as I thought it would be balanced and fair, and not biased. Clearly I was wrong as Mr. Lentini clearly has an anti-MacArthur bias. It's real easy to take a 21 second soundbite, out of its complete context, and then use it to slam MacArthur. Real easy, and real sinful.

I know for a fact that the elders at my church made the decision to obey our governing authorities because of their convictions that doing so was obedience to God and honoring to Him. Not because they were afraid of man, or out of compromise.

However, was it a good witness to shut the churches? I have heard of stories of unbelievers who were shocked that Christians shut churches. The government does not have authority to shut a church, as it goes against God’s commands. The church themselves may elect to not meet for a bit, but that should not be because they have been told to by the government.

Don't worry about me getting mad. I have a Mcarthur study Bible. For the most part a great Bible. But I would listen to him. He is extremely arrogant. His views on any subject is the word of God. Then two other things happened. He said if you don't vote for Trump, you're not a Christian. So I figure I am going to hell trusting in Jesus Christ and then he said God created evil, don't question, just accept. I could go on but this is enough for know.

@@maranathamaranatha832 God isn't the creator of evil. God wants are love. He wants us to say I want to love you. Not I have to love you. He gave us free will. So we can choose to love him. But we can also choose to reject him, to hate him. With free will, God created the possibility of evil. The Angels also had free will. To serve God and be emerged in his love forever. Or to rebel against him and fall into total hatred for him and all of his creation. So you could say the original source of active evil is Lucifer. The first fallen angel.

Just come from John Mcarthur on you tube. It's worse than I thought. He contradict himself. First I found John Mcarthur, the source of evil. It wasn't the one I originally saw. He started out good. He said that God is not the source of evil. Watched only the beginning. Then I found the one I had seen before. John Mcarthur, why does God allows so much suffering and evil. I stand by what I said. He said that God is perfectly content to be responsible and the source of evil. You can look them up yourself. I wouldn't mind to much if he said this is what he believes. There are other theories or beliefs. But no. What he says is THE TRUTH end of discussion. He comes across very smug and full of himself.
