Respect for John Mahon. It's not his preferred type of music, but he still watched it closely, enjoyed it as far as I could tell, and was appreciative of the extreme talent that was on display.

I believe Mr. Mahon would love the live version of 'A Frozen Serenade'. It really showcases their versatility.
@MetalPersonJ Жыл бұрын
That's their best song IMO. Absolutely incredible piece.

Even though speed-power/thrash metal is not John's cup of tea, you can tell that as a bona fide musician, he appreciates what an amazingly talented band Lovebites is. This man is class, unlike that Darren what's-his-name-again ? BTW Joel, John would probably appreciate "Liar" a bit more because of the heavy-rockish layering of that track.

One information to John - not all they do is speed metal. You can show him "Dancing with the devil" or "Frozen Serenade". With "Frozen Serenade" you will also see Miyako play piano and Midori acoustic guitar. And, of course, you will appreciate that Asami really is a ballet dancer.
@rolandkarlsson7072 Жыл бұрын
That ballet dancing is the most surprising thing I ever have seen a heavy metal group do.
@Trollificusv2 Жыл бұрын
@@rolandkarlsson7072 Oh, I've gotta find that now. Because I think everything they do is surprising. And maybe "surprising" is understating it a little. More like "mind boggling", "jaw-dropping" and "jaw-dropping".

I've seen your reactions with John to Band-Maid, The Warning and now Lovebites and I have to say, it's such a joy to see a skilled musician appreciate the talent and good music from these bands he's not familiar with. Always with a smile, even if it's not his favorite style. Not like some other guys recently spreading negativity and even accusing someone of not playing themselves. John is great 👍🏻

Joel, if you ever get the opportunity to bring John Mahon back to your podcasts, please do so. I find him honest, engaging and he respectfully finds elements of the performance that he likes, even if the video is not his favorite style of music. John is a class act.

I a similar with Lovebites - not the biggest fan of speed metal, just an occasional listener of thrash metal and quite picky when it comes to Powermetal but there are just some bands who make each of these genres so appealing and who are so good at what they do that I come back to them whenever the mood sits right. The last two Lovebites albums have really been fun to play especially during summer time and I like them a lot even though I don't usually listen to so much concentrated shredding and would love to have a few more ballads thrown in here and there. But it's so high energy seeing them live makes me smile and want to play along every time. I am SO excited for your reaction tomorrow I feel actually giddy inside ^//^. Senri is a phenomenon. Thank you again for the time and good natured reaction!

LOVEBITES - The Hammer Of Wrath lyrics: What's the worst way to die? Burning to death, or drowning? Everyone laughs in derision There's no hope at all Why is the world rotting away Howling in pain, they slowly die All of the sorrow is murderous The insanity (Burn up) They're calling me (Burn up) It's do or die (Burn up) Get ready for hell (Bring down justice to the wicked) Don't look away from the mistakes Open your eyes, and see the truth When lightning cracks the blackened sky Listen to the screams of distress It's like a bad dream but it's not No way to get out, a living nightmare Bring down the Hammer of Wrath Who will be the next to burn? God only knows the victim Everyone knows they are innocent All the hope is gone In despair they pass away There was no hope to begin with Even the angels are giving up Looking down on us Will this night ever break dawn (Bring down justice to the wicked) SOLO: midori / mi-ya [miyako] What's the worst way to die? I've noticed that when Joel shares artists like Lovebites and Band Maid to established musicians like John Mahon, Albert Bouchard, Dizzy Reed, and Snake Sabo, practically all have a positive reaction to the artist and music. He doesn't seem to get as much positive reactions from roadies (in particular that female one who was a little bit condescending, I forget her name), and I wonder why.
