What a vibrato! No pedals to screw the tone up - just a Les Paul, a cranked Marshall, and a truly great blues guitarist in Mick Taylor!

This is from the Diary of a Band Vol1&2 albums and at that time Taylor was playing the SG Standard with B5 Bigsby.

Sir, thank you for posting a song from my young days. In '69, I discovered the marvelous combination on weed, blues, a bit of heroin (very briefly)...all wrapped together. I've continued my love affair of the blues and the great music from that time, including Led Zep, Mayall, Alvin Lee, but never really cared for The Stones after Mick Taylor left. Your video brings back some great moments of this, now, old hippie lady that I never want to fade. Thank you so much, kind man, for sharing this to remind me where my journey began, at 19 yrs old. Bravo!

You're welcome and yes The Stones turn into a mediocre band after Taylor left. Talking about the blues, if you're interested, check out my channel for live Mayall with the great Peter Green in 1967...you won't be disapointed. Have a nice day.

Rob,Another magnificient upload on ur part, many kudos to you and your obvious love of the blues. About me, I am now 65 and grew up in the 60s listening to the great British blues/rock groups of that never to be repeated era so your uploads (not to mention their sonic clarity) just blow me out of the water, but for me as good as these lead guitarists are on these great slices of Blues history, I must say that the musical virtuosity of the late sax legend Heckstall-Smith are today largely unappreciated (have you heard his playing on Valyntine Suite?) and lets not neglect oe of the best ever druers Keef Hartley ( for example his LP "HalfBreed").Enough of my ramblings, thanks again for sharig with the rest of us Blues lovers!Jim, Brea California

+James Busbin You're welcome, Jim and indeed, Valentine Suite is great. I saw Mayall once with Hartley and it was great! Have a nice day. (Btw when you like Peter Green check out my channel for live tracks with Mayall 1967)

I once saw Heckstall Smith playing 2 saxophones at once, with Jack Bruce band!. Unbelievable player! So much joy To be found in my music collection but I never scored a copy of ‘diary of a band’, to my interminable regret!

You're dead right about Dick Hexthall Smith and that Keef Hartley album Halfbreed was an absolutely outstanding album.

I've been waiting for someone to put this up on youtube; there's another one I'm sure you know - Crying shame In a bit of an indirect note, I first learned about Peter Green Fleetwood Mac from listening to my dads "John Mayall Bluesbreakers: Diary of a Band", records! Back in 1993-4

The whole English r&b/r&r scene can be traced by looking at John Mayall's band members.
