This is a great version and Peter was way out in front of the competition, but please listen to Rory Gallagher play the same song with TASTE at the Isle of wight concert., they take it elsewhere but the power of their version is amazing.

Peter Green! Wow! What a guitarist. Rod Stewart - at his best singing the blues! The Jack Bruce and Aynsley Dunbar! What a "super" group!

I love this recording because it sounds like the audience doesn't even know how to react to a killer guitar solo. How many recordings do you hear where the audience responds to the guitar solo by going "YAY!!!"? They aren't going "woo" or cheering in general, you can distinctly hear the crowd yell "yay" at the end of Peter Green's solo. It's like hearing the real time response of cavemen watching fire being lit for the first time in their lives.

African Americans brought the blues music, Peter reinvented it with a western taste, it is no surprising that he had a deep respect from the inventors

Peter Green was among the best, and basically played the EC style and sound with the Mayall group, an incredible feat on its own. His versions of The Stumble are also incredible, possibly unmatched. Carlos Santana early on was like a cross between Peter Green and Mike Bloomfield. Bloomfield played some of the most intense blues solos in history. Check out his live stuff from the Fillmore with either Al Kooper or Nick Gravenites. This was an incredibly fertile time for guitar music.

This is cool, and good. Just wondering if a version of this exists with Jack Bruce singing this, with Rod Stewart sitting it out, on the bench.

Bruce on lead vocals, that would've been great!!

Now this is a super group. I saw Rod a few times in that era, with Jeff Beck, and thought him one of the finest blues singers of his generation. Was saddened about his drift into more mainstream music but he still knocked out some classics. Peter Green was the finest blues guitarist I ever saw and would have paid good money to see him play with Rod in those halcyon days 😎
@bobinscotland2 ай бұрын
Peter Green also played with Rod in another band, Peter B's Looners, with Pete Bardens, Dave Ambrose and Mick Parker.... and later with Mick Fleetwood on drums.

Peter Green here shows a clinic of raw Blues emotions. His approach soft, feel and attack when needed. Don’t kill me for saying that Peter was my 2nd favorite out of the three Mayall’s guitarists. If you guessed that my favorite Mayall is Eric Clapton, with all do respect you didn’t guess right. Mick Taylor is my favorite for starting out as a kid after the big boys left. When The Rolling Stones needed a guitarist, it was John Mayall’s endorsement to pick Mick Taylor. The Stones with Mick Taylor is by far their best in music, not even a debate. Sad to say Mick Taylor still to this day, never got credit for it. Back to Peter Green, I just love him, his emotional style gives me the shivers just like Mick Taylor does and that’s what counts.
