I was there that night and, later on at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz, I had a chance to ask Mr Mayall about the identity of one of the awesome women singers he'd had on that night, "Etta James." John McVie was so drunk he had to bow out mid set, much to the amusement of his friends. Mick Taylor and Buddy Guy blew my mind, and still do. Albert king was legendary.... what a night for an aspiring guitar slinger... Blues Heaven! Thanks for the introductions, John.

But in 6 months we were jamming for about 10 years . Boring but something to do . He didn't like punk rock. Oh well I didn't like ride captain ride . He passed away so I can admit it now lol sorry Malcom'biaa thats what I called him lol

Just a slight comment on my part,... At the end of Born Under a Bad Sign Albert King leaves the stage and at the 37:35 mark Mick Taylor starts to "let loose" but then Albert King comes back on stage and Mick discontinues what he was going to do. I have a good feeling that some real REAL GOOD NOTES was going to be played,.... BUT.... we could only imagine. : )

I really wish YT would eliminate the negative thumb thing. If someone doesn't like something? why should I be informed of that? Just makes me wonder why they were listening? Lot's of noise these days I don't like, I just avoid it, I don't leave a negative thumb. No body cares what I like or dislike right? I really like this batch of cool cats playing the Blues.

This blows my mind. In 1969 I went to a place called the Rose Palace in Pasadena to see Deep Purple, Albert King and the Bluesbreakers in that order. Mick Taylor on his last BB tour before the Stones. No seats, one buck to get in. Every band was superb and when (John remembers) Mick takes off on Parchman Farm we all, as blues fans, were transported to a very fine universe as the Bluesbreakers tore the roof offa the sucka. Concert seating! Sawdust! Weed!

You have to enjoy the way different people approach performing live. In one club you have people like Paul Stanley, Robert Plant, Chuck Berry & Angus Young who look like they think standing still for 30 seconds might kill them and on the other hand you have guys like Mick Taylor and John McVie who appear as if they'd be happy playing a gig in phone box for all the moving on stage they need to do. 🙂
@XKAHAN1Ай бұрын
Maaaan, all them cats should be happy just to kiss Chuck Berry’s shoes. Don’t get me started on Louis Jordan either. Neither got the props, OR the money they deserved. Chuck stand still? You obviously never saw him live. I never ever comment but something about seeing his name in the context it was just irked me. No worries pal, do you, it’s all good. ☮️ 🦊🖤🐾☕️🚬🎶
