There's those who can sing and play guitar ....and then there's John Mayer. Takes it to another level, effortlessly. A lesson in how to write and play and make it timeless. Classy.

Definitely my favorite song of his. Touches me emotionally especially with my frequent work travel and my wife that died recently.

I love how you can see him kinda “struggle” with the song at first because it’s probably been ages since he performed it in a set regularly. But once he gets a few chords into it and past the first chorus it’s like he’s found the song again. I love it. It was an awesome surprise to see him perform this song in Atlanta.

I don't know how he comes up with these chord progressions but it is absolutely beautiful!

Here we are in 2021 where everything has to be shared, or it didn't happen. John's sentiment in this song is more important than ever. Thanks for uploading this beautiful performance.

Usually artists leave us nostalgic, and longing for their younger selves just so we can hear the sound that made us fans in the first place. Mayers an exception to that. I just became a fan for the second time.

JM expresses emotions so well, without even having to use words. He manages to paint the picture anyway, so that you get the message. In this case, he wants that person with him when he experiences beautiful things or even otherwise. I would say, if possible, that person wants to be there with him as well. To facilitate, a line is drawn. In the name of love, there will be no more 3x5s. Very poignant mastery conveyed by a true Master, the Man and the King.❣🌟💎👑

Doesn’t even feel like an old song because one way or another a week won’t pass without all of his albums getting played

Nice video, thanks for uploading. John's 3x5 - off his Room For Squares album. He just keeps making his early stuff, sound better and better .................... Who can better that acoustic sound and playing ?

Have someone an idea about the lyrics of the bridge part? (3:35 - 3:55). Please I don't understand all of this... 🙏🏻

What guitar does he have? looks like a Martin...

It's a Martin OMJM/OM28JM

@@PintoArthur Ooh, okay, thanks! Btw, the guitar looks kind of small, and I've been looking for smaller guitar than my Dreadnought, You think this one is smaller? Sorry for my ignorance, I'm still pretty new to the guitar world.
@PintoArthur4 жыл бұрын
@@jr4chargers this guitar looks small because JM is really freaking big, but the OM (Orchestra)/000 shapes usually are like a mid term with dreadnought and a baby guitar I have a similar model (A brazilian made one) and it feels really comfortable to play. I'm a tall guy but I found dreadnoughts kinda unconfortable and this Orchestra/000 shape is perfect!
@PintoArthur4 жыл бұрын
btw: usually Dreadnoughts are mid scooped (better suited for voices) and the OM/000 shape doesn't have the same bass response, but have more mids. It's a different sound and I find it better in a lot of cases I only prefer the Dreadnought sound when I'm recording a acoustic guitar that is low in the mix and it's only filling up space
@jr4chargers4 жыл бұрын
@@PintoArthur Haha I did not know he was that tall. Yea, I have a Yamaha A3R, and I'm 5'11'', while my guitar is not big, I will still like to learn and practice with one that is a little smaller. I'm thinking if getting a concert, because it looks a bit smaller, but I don't really know how they would sound. All my guitar stores here are closed because of the virus, so all I have to go with is videos and forums lol Thank you so much for the info! I appreciated it!
