SO glad Mayer overcame his ass personality from early mid 2000’s. Now we get to enjoy an awesome guitar playing with an amazing passion for music. Now it’s joyful to listen to interviews and watch him play live. Thanks for the video! That line up sounds legendary. Gonna looks for tickets in a few!

I graduated from Berklee. What's funny is what's known as the "Berklee curse." The best players like JM tended NOT to graduate. Rather spend a little time there and move on. Often they get picked up for gigs while at Berklee. That happened to Steve Vai with Zappa and Di Meola with Return to Forever. But I graduated, lol.

LOL. I graduated in '95 and am now a tenured full professor of law and business at the community college level. I went straight to law school after Berklee. Maybe when I retire from this gig I'll make it big as a second career. Incidentally, I work with Pearson publishers (they market their textbooks to us) and none other than Andy West, bassist for the Dixie Dregs, works or worked for them (in an IT capacity), because it's so hard to sustain a good living in music even if you are good enough to play for Steve Morse. I am disappointed, though, that our paths never crossed. @@georgew1522

to be real possibly cause they were too busy playing and jamming than focusing on academics. and you're in the yt comments on their video w sammy hagar, pathways in life yaknow. maybe you can be a music teacher at a nice little community college somewhere

This is a little "insider baseball" information. My community college has a music program and there is one full time person who coordinates it. And I am glad I am not that guy. I'm much happier doing the "law and business" stuff where I teach. I am also happy to jam with the music folks over there. @@agharta42

To me.... Joe Satriani is THE guitar player of this earth. Hendrix and Van Halen had massive impact and importance in the history of the instrument and how its played, but nobody inspires me to play like Joe Satriani does. Joe is a MASTER of the instrument, his approach towards the instrument and his knowledge and attitude are unique. I love Sammy, great cool dude to be in a band with, but Joe to me is like a modern Mozart

never cared for Satriani too much, he's just a technical shredder guy...not my style. I like some of his songs, but he just doesn't have the soul of Eddie or Mayer or many other artists. If you've been playing guitar for a long time like me, you'll get it. Don't get me wrong I like some of Satriani's stuff, but I can think of SO many players I would put above him!

I like Mayer seems like a good dude he's a good blues rock player wasted in pop imho but just admit you do the pop shit because it pays well.
@Spidouz
@Spidouz 7 ай бұрын
Sure it pays, but also maybe because he likes it… not everyone has a disdain for pop music. I’m not ashamed to say I love making pop music, which is actually really hard if you want to make great pop music because it’s way harder to make something that will be loved by a majority of people, instead of making music for a niche. It’s easier to make experimental music and make it for a niche, it doesn’t even have to be liked by most people, just only few of them… Of course, there’s also bad pop music, but it’s no different in my view than people making bad rock, or bad blues, or bad funk, or bad rap, or whatever you want.
