Quick story about this song. I heard it on the radio back in 04 or so, and loved it, but didn't know the name of it. With no lyrics, I couldn't Google anything to help, and there were no apps or smartphones to help back then. I spent years trying to figure out what it was, randomly hearing it on the radio every so often. Finally found it after like 4 years or so on a "best guitar solo" list. Nearly cried when I heard it. Been a satch fan ever since.

This is exactly what I was just talking about to a friend of mine tonight. I spent 10 hours downloading this performance about 13 years ago and now it's just one click away. It's utterly nuts how times have changed.

04, lol. Now imagine 10 years earlier when it was new, no internet to help figure out what you just heard. I sat there all day listening to the radio hoping, praying to hear it again..

This is why Joe is incredible - not just for his virtuosic guitar skills, but for being able to write top notch, memorable instrumentals such as this. It is one thing to be able to play, it is another to write incredible, thematic instrumentals, which is what Joe always does successfully.
@HimanshuSharma-vt8ke6 жыл бұрын
exactly man. anyone can play as Marty Friedman has said. anyone who has trained 24*7 in a closed room for a decade will be able to play anything his/her heart desires. but achieving the tonality and creativity and writing such memorable and heart touching music takes a whole next level of creativity and passion for the art.

Joe certainly does have the gift of creativity and ingenuity that few have been given that talent from their Creator above...

I know not many people even realise the difficulty in live sound, blending the bass with the kick drum, making the rhythm background without losing power, making the lead stand out without sounding screechy. This set up is simply perfection. Go ahead and turn it up, it'll sound better.

There may not be a human ever to have existed who exudes as much confidence as Joe Satriani performing live. He knows he’s a legend. He knows he’s shredding. He knows he’s one of the only people who can pull off wearing sunglasses indoors. It’s such a treat to watch him perform live. He feeds off the crowd. The crowd feeds off him. He showboats but never comes across as arrogant.
