The only true user of that name is Guthrie Govan, John's biblically good , but is not that good.
@DOKITT Жыл бұрын
@@kaiselkamish9904 Guthrie is a savant guitarist but John has 10x the feel in his playing and its not even close.
@kaiselkamish9904 Жыл бұрын
@@DOKITT If you are going through the "bite my lips like john mayer whenever i play" phase, probably yes, once you mature, you'll find out that making faces doesn't mean "feeling it". And don't get me wrong, John's a Savage.
@DOKITT Жыл бұрын
@@kaiselkamish9904 Ah yes, I prefer John's phrasing because he bites his lips! You give the impression of being incredibly musically stunted.
@kenny69lover Жыл бұрын
@@DOKITT Guthrie already has a Goat status even compared to legends in the previous eras. He can replicate any style of playing from all types of genres. But I am with you about John’s place. Being good doesn’t always mean you have to reach maximum complexity or crafting the most complicated lines or solos. A lot of God tier players often do this out of context and then it becomes overkill to the ears. Like Martin Miller shredding fusion lines in a Sultans Of Swing cover. John is a simple person who nailed the blues and nails the feeling and expression through his fingers. The songs he wrote are beautifully constructed and executed int he studio and on stage.

I do not know how many years I left on this earth, but I do know that I regret not having had the opportunity to see John Mayer and his band live! Whatever year, whatever tour, they play so tight Everytime, with those beautiful harmonies. I was fortunate enough to see Van Halen in concert back in 79' and again in 81', Eddie van Halen was amazing!! Watching on KZbin, John Mayer is amazing!! 🎸🎼

Listen to Neal Schon and Journey, "Look Into The Future." I went to this concert for this tour. I'm not making any type of comparison, some of John Mayer's amazing solo's take me back to Neal Schon's great guitar work - before Steve Perry joined the band. Enjoy!

Is there a chance anybody knows what pedal he is using on that final solo. That tone is bananas
I like his frost PRS...so clean and so cool...it should've be name as PRS STR JM25, (STR: Stratocaster, JM: John Mayer, 25: the scale of the guitar)
@niekvanwensen Жыл бұрын
‘Stratocaster’ is a Fender name tho so PRS would never call it that, and why would the name include the scale length? (It’s 25.5” btw). Most signature features on the guitar such as the neck shape and the pickups are actually called ‘635JM’. The number would be right in the middle of ‘63 and ‘64 (63.5); the building years of the Fender Strats the silver sky is based off!
