EC has that classic Martin sound, OMJM has Engelmann top and a longer scale length thus more complex sounding overtones, normally id vote OM but that EC sounds better than most. loved the Green Thumb near the end :)

I own both and love both however in this video I'd be willing to bet that the JM has new strings and the EC's strings have been played a while.....because JM is clearly brighter here and at home using the same Elixirs on both 90% of the time I play the EC ..... good playing young man

Without a doubt, the EC is the best. Clearer, cleaner tone. Sharp notes cuts through the crap. Definitely the best for leads. I love it and got to have it. 000 28 EC is my dream guitar. I'm crying right now.

The John Mayer seems a little nicer than the EC. I liked the Mayer better than the EC when I ABed them both recently in a music store as well. They are both fine guitars and a pleasure to play.

I have just bought a Martin 000-28ec and it is awesome and I have not even tried phosphor bronze strings on it yet. People say it doesn't strum well, well mine is very loud and chimey, well pleased with it and it looks gorgeous too !!!

EC sounds best for Clapton’s music while OMJM sounds best for Mayer’s style. That’s why I just ordered an EC. Very hard decision. I also wanted the shorter scale length. Can’t wait. I really like both. You seem to make the OMJM look easier to play. Btw, your song choices and playing skills are awesome!

If I' m right, the JM has a 1 11/16 nut width and the EC 1 3/4 inch. And a 000 has a shorter scale. So I would prefer the EC.

Very similar Tone , I prefer Meyer's guitar cuz all notes are more defined in the mids and treble. But Clapton's is due to the age a more comfortable sound way more warmer but still great fingerpicking guitar. Its all about what you prefer the most : a good martin with that edgy sound and clearer tones or a more welcoming more rounded sound of the Claptons. Imo : I'll keep the Mayer for overall situation , the Claption would be for sure my second one ^^)

both are great, the OM fingering is much louder than the OOO when fingered but the OOO is louder than the OM when picked . the OOO must sound awesome with a slide
