OMG, this just solved a major issue with my design processes! I was concerned it was procrastination, but it is about my ability to see a vision as a project evolves! Thank you!

My favourite John Mayer album depends on my mood, but if I had to pick, I'd go with Heavier things. It has some really sad and some really energetic ones too. and i love the album cover. although i like the as/is live versions of only heart and split screen sadness a lot more
@CoffeeNCulture2 жыл бұрын
Not many people talk about Heavier things, but it did give us some John Mayer Classics. His live albums are amazing, he always finds a way to give his songs a spin to them. Did you ever hear his Where The Light Is live album? Some great guitar solos in there.

Favorite albums, Paradise Valley and Sob Rock.

What are your favorite song(s) from those albums?
@donnav71033 жыл бұрын
@@CoffeeNCulture From Paradise Valley my favs are Wildfire, Call Me The Breeze and Waiting On The Way. It is the perfect chill out record and one of my absolute favorites in my cd collection. John has created another classic with Sob Rock. He said in an interview that he is limited by his vocal range. The softer and lower end of his vocal range is what I prefer and it shines on Sob Rock. My favs are Last Train Home, Carry Me Away, Wild Blue, Shouldn't Matter But It Does. Other favorites include Magnolia, Perfectly Lonely and In The Blood.

Those are all great songs, Paradise Valley is underrated for sure. John just seems in a sense more quietly confident and as you said it shines through on Sob Rock. All awesome picks. Thanks so much for sharing!

Pretty sure he stole that "glass in the universe" quote from Stravinsky (but he said "fish/ocean")... not that there's anything wrong with that!

His albums have stopped being different thematically for some time now, don't know what's he talking about.
@elihintz56203 жыл бұрын
Have you listened to any of his albums? Within the last decade he’s had two country/folk albums, the search for everything has a bit of everything in it, and sob rock is an 80s pop record at its heart
@Mayersam3 жыл бұрын
@@elihintz5620 yes that's what I am saying. Up until born and raised. John's work was very distinct thematically, lyrically as well as musically. And since then you can always find some great songs spread across the albums but the albums as a whole haven't been as strong as they were before. That's just my opinion as a genuine fan of his work.
@Mayersam3 жыл бұрын
@@elihintz5620 bringing back the 80s sound is what everyone is doing, john to me is nearly too late to do it. Knowing him to be such a great writer of the lyrics I was appalled at the lack of depth and ideas the last album had.

_Born and Raised_ was written and then was delayed as he had a throat infection. He couldn’t tour or perform it and he became a blues and pop session guitarist. He performed with Frank Ocean and worked behind the scenes with other artists too. _Paradise Valley_ was a sequel to _Born and Raised_ . Almost like a do-over so a tour wouldn’t be disjointed. Similarly his last two albums are his pop phase. I hope the next one is the start of a new one too, though. Love John but his records are starting to get old.

there's no such thing as writers block. Just wait till the rabbit comes out of it's hole... As Neil Young would say. Patience grasshopper

Real or not, you would have to agree that there are moments when we endeavor to create or write something, and there is heavy fraction. Whether it is between what we imagined and what we wrote, or some other indescribable disconnect that stifles us. As you said time does help, however, it's tough to see that when we are standing too close.
