Literally got the Artificial Blonde Vibrato (first JHS pedal) and happy so see that JM is using it, it really is a fantastic pedal and quite versatile with the 2nd "preset"

I have an original early 80s rack Korg SD 3000. The real magic to that unit is the preamp. The preamp is always-on regardless if the delay is engaged. It colors the tone and adds just a hair of grit that is touch-sensitive. It’s a very nice piece of kit to have for tone shaping.

Yep. The SD3000 is a special piece.

that korg sdd3000 sounds nothing like the original rack unit..i have 2 of them and tried the new version..just don't bother

@@richardcray2919I don’t have the pedal, but I’ve heard others say the same thing. Apparently, the 2000 has the same preamp. You can get them at a fraction of the cost

@@richardcray2919that’s interesting. I was told by a guy who repaired these units out of Texas that specialized in them. This was years ago that I had it serviced. Slemmons repair. He was the one who told me about the preamp in the 2000. He’s been working on those units for 30 years. Have you taken the two units apart to compare the circuit?

Ong, I was wondering if Mayer would ever use that Korg pedal. Stumbled across it online one day and was blown away with it. I hope to try one soon. Well, buy one soon

The four volume pedals to control his monitor mix comes from what Jimmy Herring used with his tenure with the Dead and now with Widespread Panic. Check it out. Pretty cool.

With a big board like John’s, I sometimes wonder why he doesn’t use a loop switcher. Would be a bit less tapping, but I guess it comes down to his ideal workflow. He probably likes not being locked down to pre-programmed settings/patches, which I understand.
@TheSecondNature3 ай бұрын
For the nature of the Dead's music a switcher-less pedalboard might be more intuitive to use. But I just want to add that if you do have a switcher, you're not necessarily tied to presets or stuff like that. You can use a switcher in manual or stompbox mode. That way, you can switch stuff on and off on the fly, but you benefit from the fact that the signal is not going through all those pedals all the time, as it only goes through the loops you have turned on at any given moment

Why can't artists (or their guitar/bass techs) just take high quality, detailed pics of artists pedal boards at this point in history? It would simply the ambiguity and add value for the gear heads!

The multiple volume pedals controlling the monitor mix is pretty rad. Something ive never thought of doing. That can be done with 4, or as many as you want, expression pedals connect to modern digital mixers via midi.

if the pedal board market is so brain dead, that prices skyrocket the second their god's foot touches one, that's more on them than on John Mayer

Just curious, but why would John really care if others see his pedal board nobody can play like him and I don’t think anybody is out there to match his exact set up so I don’t see why he would get annoyed or even care just my two cents

If you're also a guitar player who uses pedals and invests a lot of time crafting a sound then you can understand how another guitar player would also have a personal connection to their setup, and the same is true whether you're John or Justin or yourself. So how about we calm the tone with the man wanting to show some respect to an artist we all enjoy and takes the time to put together this great video.
@SimpleManGuitars19733 ай бұрын
@@sterling8544 John has actually said that he wants to be more secretive about it because he didn't want to inflate the market just because he's using something. Even he knows that $500 for a TS10 is just absolutely idiotic. Josh Scott from JHS a few years ago said that he also keeps secrets about his pedalboard for him.
@SimpleManGuitars19733 ай бұрын
@@Incacal71 Sadly a lot of people online think that if they get a piece of gear their favorite player uses that it will make them "sound just like them". John has said that he doesn't want to artificially inflate the market of pedals anymore than they already are just because he has something on his board.
