Thanks Brandon, safe to say you’re one of my top fans (and loyal since you’ve been following me since the early vids 🙏🏼😄). And yes I’m fully into getting the exact tone as John Mayer, but then not spending anywhere near as much!

Maan. I had left a comment in your Old Love playing video and I didn't knew it was you coming back to youtube and uploading new videos!! So happy to see this, because your tone is my inspiration. I have a Strat from Squier, it's the same model as your fender, but is a squier. Sometimes I love the sound it makes but sometimes I don't. Anyway, I'm glad you're uploading new videos during this quarantine :)

Hi thanks for the kind words! To ease your mind, I also like the sound of my guitar sometimes but not always. But that’s exactly why I LOVE my guitar, because it’s like a friend, sometimes I agree with it, and sometimes I don’t 😊

Wow thanks for the tips! How do you set your tone knobs on the guitar?
@maatiqs3 жыл бұрын
Hiya, my tone is set to 4-5ish for both pickups, it seems like that would take away too many highs but my amp is pretty bright so it sounds good. 😊

@1:02 How do you do that consistent percussive slap?
@maatiqs4 жыл бұрын
Hi there, for that particular slide as I’m slapping my hand I use my index finger to pluck the string I need to play as well. In that case I play the A string
@maatiqs4 жыл бұрын
Or sometimes I play nearly all the strings if I’m fretting more than one string. Hope this helps!
@SlickD18694 жыл бұрын
maatiqs Reverb may also help for the percussiveness if I'm correct? I like how you give attention to details/nuances which it's how supposed to be done. Looking forward for more of your tutorial videos (pls do some eric gales). Firm handshakes Sir! 🤝
@maatiqs4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yeah reverb definitely helps, as it accentuates the slap. Also I’m glad you like my videos, because I see a lot of guitar players focus mostly on the tabs and exact notes to play. That leads them away from making their guitar sound nice and humanly! (I used to be like that initially as well 😄) We just have to remember that these songs/solos etc weren’t written on paper with tablature, they were played by the artist feeling their way through the song. So that feel shouldn’t be lost 😊 I got super philosophical there LOL Firm handshake to you too !! 🤝
