I love how the lyrics very slowly expose that the song is about loss, and the subject of "You" is only brought up about a minute into it after spending time describing the color of loneliness. As the lyrics continue, we learn he has lost someone and now dwells in this color on a bed of grey, and the idea of "finding oneself" or "letting you go" takes on new meaning. He clearly misses the person but finds a beauty in the depths of this wild blue of loneliness. and in many ways feels like a sequel to New Light, who's lovelorn protagonist is wild for a woman he has never met but only chats with on phone apps daily but is always left hanging.

Great vibe to this song. Easy to forget that underneath the 'pop fluff' stuff, John is genuinely a formidable musician. I don't particularly 'love' everything he does, but I respect the hell out of him and, as a guitarist he has moments of sheer brilliance. His musical genius shines through his guitar playing and songwriting. More power to him! This was smooth, subtle but moving and effective. ✌😎
@startrekmike3 жыл бұрын
At the risk of sounding a bit blunt, Mayer's catalog of work overall doesn't tend to make him out to be a "pop fluff" kinda guy. His first major album release (not counting his EP) was certainly more pop focused but everything after that (seven entire albums) has moved more in other directions. I guess what I am saying here is that we are well past the point where it is easy to forget that he is a formidable musician.

Mr John Mayer you are the best sob rocker and so smart to stay out of politics. Your still so young may you be blessed with a wonderful wife and children of your own. Take your time like you have in the past few yrs. When you went out west for a time a few yrs back. Someone gave you the best advice and you slowed down with the girls and took time for yourself! Wow You are doing an awesome job! I am so sorry for the loss of one of your best friends Bob you told each other you loved one another and he made such a great impression on your way of life. Keep that box of cigars Bob gave you forever.

what do you mean by staying out of politics? He has made his opinions on the VAx fairly clear he hasn't shared opinions on mandates tho. I don't expect him to pull an Eric Clapton and not play segregated shows but hopefully he doesn't support all the craziness would be out of character for him

Wow, this is incredible, just pure gold!!! I love the Dire Straits - and while on the studio Version John M. nailed Mark Knopflerˋs Playing / Tone, this is so much more: The Stage, his Voice, an chrystal-clear soundmix (and very good Cam-Work (!)) and this two solos… in short: the best Live-Performance i‘ve seen in recent Years.. Thanks!!!

Surprised he didn't use a blue colorway PRS for this one. That solo was killer though.

I like the grey but that Silversky Lunar Ice or Nebula would have been cool

john mayer truly cares for his craft of making music. he even has an insane setup of foot pedals to modify the sound of his guitar to be perfect. the opening to slow dancing in a burning room is prob the best song opening
