When I listen to it, I feel world is so ignorant and don't even have an idea what some people are up to. These people are genius and so creative....This is what music is about....Salute John and Zakir

I know what lousparre means. I used to think that Shakti would be so much better if Zakir was left to do his own thing without McLaughlin influencing the sound. I have known Zakir's reputation and his playing for years. Then I started getting into Jazz and by accident discovered McLaughlins very serious Jazz heritage and how he had worked with some of the giants of Jazz. I now hear Shakti differently. Its a very very clever blend of Jazz, classical indian and experimental music from both.

This is music of one voice through four people.

Interesting ,,, I used to think much the same of McLaughlin until I saw an early video of him with ZH, It was clear that they had a mental telepathy about rhythm and melody. At this level of musical skill, they do what "they" want, not what others have done. I remain seriously impressed by both of them. Stat at about 5:18 and watch him learn the rag to be able to play in unison with the ensemble.

I see the word "cheesy" on a page like this and it forces me to admit the terrible truth that some people got peanut butter instead of a brain that works when they were born.

@lousparre I've read some ignorant things in the last 40 odd years, but your comment tops the lot!! I sure wish I could play as 'cheesy' as him.

ok..what you'rehearing now is live music or if i may say jamming in a way or another... those guys sit and practice for almost 10 years.... everyday 5 am till 5 pm to reach that level of divine music...and connection in playing ... and your concerned that it's cheesy or not.. grow up man
@RhymesandRythmns14 жыл бұрын
stop jiving out lousparre its his concepts and in many respects their right. i preffered shakti when he played acoustic cos there was more emphasis on the entirity of the whole band. this is music. its infinite so just jam out to what you like :)

@adaptordie14 жыл бұрын
i can't stand the way mclaughlin plays. he's so cheesy and white. yeah yeah i know he's amazing but his taste level is awful. hussain rules though... no doubt about that.
