Love from Kentucky. LOVE John Michael!
@maryrichardson13184 ай бұрын
John Michael Montgomery went to the same high school as I did. I was about 5 years older. A couple of his cousins graduated with me. My cousin graduated with him. He has a house not to far from where I live and I have eaten at the restaurant he used to own here in Nicholasville, Kentucky. He has a lot of good songs. This, and "The Little Girl" are two of my favorites.

There are organizations that organize groups to adopt a soldier to send letters too.

Emotional, but still ballsy and not sappy, and I appreciate that.

Yes I was going the same thing. It is emotional without making you cry unnecessarily.

This song always gets to me, choked up again watching that third verse...first time I heard the words "im proud of you" from my dad was the day I left for basic training. What you guys were saying on that verse was spot on...

Pretty late to this. But, yes. Every single time. I don't even like country music.

Great react to such an emotional song. I really like it when you both aren’t all giggles; when you really focus and listen intently to these Country Music gems with their relatable story-telling.

Yes. I never understood the hate for country music. Its amazing, relatable, can be funny or serious, and tells great stories. Honestly, its my favorite genre of music.

They have a pen pal system for the ones that don't get letters. They maybe complete strangers but it's someone to talk to

I know back in school we could write letters to soldiers, or bring in things to send to the soldiers in a care package.

The soldier's father is a very stubborn man in the song, but eventually admits to being proud of his son, which drives the son to tears and spreads an aura of solemnity among his comrades, as mentioned in the third verse.... The video features actual National Guard soldiers stationed in Army Aviation Support Facility No. 1 in Smyrna, Tennessee. Actor and musician Freddy Mullins played the role of the soldier father. Freddy Mullins has appeared in over 60 films and commercials. He appears for example in another song "The More I Drink" by Blake Shelton kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2SweJmAaMqAfaM He also acted in TV on ABC's series "Nashville" in 2012

My favourite part of the video is when Zack say Mont-go- MARRY . You know I wouldn't change a thing. Part of the charm of this show is how you pronounce the names of the artists. I can only imagine John Michael Montgomery watching this and then he reaches the part when you are introducing him LOL

This song always makes me think of when my husband was in basic. I wrote my husband a letter every single day he was in basic training and sometimes they would get delayed so he wouldn't get a letter for a day or two and he would be heartbroken. Men in his dorms got dear John letters (breakup letters) and those circumstances always hit the guys hard.

Since many know absolutely nothing about John Michael Montgomery here's some info from Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Michael_Montgomery The song also has a Wikipedia page en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Letters_from_Home_(song) It peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart in 2004 and also reached number 24 on the Billboard Hot 100. Co-writer David Lee got the idea after seeing a soldier and his girlfriend saying goodbye at the airport.

I received a card from my wife on my last deployment, and I shared a small portion of it with some buddies, then they did their dangedest to get it from me because one of them saw there was more, but I refused to share it. Well, the parts I didn’t share were personal between husband and wife. Yeah, they were... uhhh... personal... things, haha. Yup, racy things. Momma was waitin’ for daddy to get home. (Hey, we are parents. Remove those weird thoughts, y’all.) I still have that card to this day. But I must say, some of the most touching letters I ever read while deployed were the “To any Soldier” letters from elementary school children. Talk about tugging the heart strings and rubbing onions in the eyes...
