John is one of my all-time faves❤, I'm glad you like him too. I don't recall any other patriotic songs from him, but a couple of his big hits were 'I Swear', and 'I Love The Way You Love Me'.😊

Had t heard this one in a while, always liked him and this song, I always thought he was so underrated, he came along at a time country was changing and I think he got lost in the shuffle, as it always does country always tells a story. Appreciate the work you do

I never really appreciated Mail Call until we experienced them. Many mixed feelings even now just thinking about them. One powerful memory is us deciding that nobody would ever have a Mail Call without getting something. We kept a grab bag of donated cards, letters and small gifts for distribution to those who would otherwise have been left out.

I watched and and it was really good! It was totally blocked on KZbin though. Appreciate the recommendation on that one.

@@555Vibes no worries. Glad you liked it. Its probably best it was blocked. That kind of song should just be for yourself when you need a reminder on and off the battlefields

No more patriotic songs that I can think of, but a very meaningful song is called The little Girl. Or something very similar to that. It won’t let you down

Not to take anything away from today’s Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, etc., but I don’t think they have it as hard as us older guys. When I was stationed in Japan in the early 90’s, it would take 3 weeks for my family to receive a letter from me and another 3 weeks for a response. Today, with email and texting, it’s instant. You can literally SEE your family every day with FaceTime or Zooming. It’s just not the same.

When my husband was in Desert Storm, we would sometimes wait 3-4 weeks to hear from him. It was really tough, considering that CNN had live action from the front lines on the news, 24/7. I knew what unit he was in, the First Cavalry, and watched as they went into Kuwait, knowing that he was in there somewhere. Then a few years later, while we were stationed in Germany, he was sent to Bosnia as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. There was still no public internet, but the military had email. I was teaching in a DOD dependent school where my son was attending. All the kids whose parents were sent to Bosnia were given an email address and were allowed to send email to their parent. I was also allowed to send email to my husband. WOW!!! Our oldest son is a Blackhawk pilot and was with the 82nd Airborne for several years. 3 Deployments to Afghanistan. What a blessing to have the internet. We used Skype and Facebook. I could sit at my desk at work and see the little green dot by his name on my FB chat list, and I knew he was ok if he was online. He transitioned to the KY Army National Guard a few years ago, but had deployed with them twice.
