I was adopted and raised by my grandparents. My dad once told me that true music will tell you a story that will play a small movie in my mind. Music that is well written does that to me all the time now. No matter how many times I hear an emotional song it just hits me hard. The most recent is Craig Morgan's, "The Father, My Son and the Holy Ghost".

I know this is nearly a year after you posted, but I somehow missed this one. I was so excited when I heard John Michael Montgomery wrote this song- because I knew it. My mom told me the story years before the song came out. She had known or known of the family that adopted that little girl, so when I heard he had written the song I was excited. On the bus going to school in fact when the radio hosts stated that once John Michael Montgomery heard the story it only took him 8 minutes to write the song. I think mom may have left some of the details out as I was probably no older than the girl when she first told me the story, but I recognized it in the song immediately.

I understand how you feel. Usually, the abusers are themselves victims from another time/place, and we should try to always remember that. That doesn't mean bad people shouldn't be punished when its appropriate, but we should always remember that evil in one came from evil in another. A very good lesson I heard from a preacher who said: Remember ONLY god can create something from nothing, and think about that. Therefore, evil never comes from nothing. Satan does not have the power to create from nothing, only to spread insidiously through hearts and minds. Evil never just appears in a place, a people, or a person. it always, always spreads. It propagates. It begets itself, but it never comes from nothing, never from out of nowhere. Only god creates something from nothing.
