WOW...his mom rocks! That's a big difference from FL to the Sierra. That's some impressive miles on day 2. GREAT photos!!!!

I loved the video and the blog with the details :-). I applaud Sissy - truly impressive to have hiked all that way! 15 miles on the first day is awesome! I can also empathize with Sissy as I am usually the one that takes longer to walk/ride/hike and invariably end up going by myself as not to impose on others. It's hard to strike a balance between wanting to hike your hike and trying to be supportive, but in the end when you're with people you love and who love you, the experience and memories made together are what counts, not the number of miles or steps in a day.

Awwwww makin us blush! So they will roll out once a week for the last two. And starting Thursday we have a 4 part gear guide rolling out once a week for the next month...we've been really busy
@williamkenyon98585 жыл бұрын
@@BoundForNowhere wow, you spoil me/us! I like busy. But like I said, NO Pressure! I think there is a level of expectation from KZbinrs that they feel they need to feed the beast I NEVER want a reply to a vlog/video to make the producer feel like they need to keep feeding that beast. You are on the road for your reasons and we out here on the other side are along for the ride that you are in control of (my opinion). As always, be safe and live your life.

I know right! I still can't believe that lens started freaking out that early on the trail! Still trying to figure if we want a different lens to replace it or get the same one again. It's otherwise been a crowd favorite in our house

Let Owens mom know that what she did is amazing. Sissy hiking all those miles and days is unbelievable because not a lot of people can do that. Especially for someone coming from sea level elevation. She actually did part of the JMT that is most scenic in my view.

What do you do at water crossings? Do you change into different shoes for water or just plow through in the same? What shoes/boots do you have?
@BoundForNowhere5 жыл бұрын
In the beginning we would switch from our La Sportiva trail runners into bedrocks, but by the end the water crossings were so frequent it would have added hours to the day so we just plowed through with wet feet!

I would like to see about doing this trail. Did you see any older hiker's on the trail? Do people do this hike solo.

Yes! Owen's mother who came with us, but we also saw others. Plenty of people also hike it solo

Great Job! What were the dates that you hiked? Also, what app were you using on you phone that gave you your hiking stats?
@BoundForNowhere5 жыл бұрын
So we started on the 10th and hiked for 15 days so we finished on the 25th. The app is actually just my watch amzn.to/2Z0Kcna it has an app to read all the stats on it's tracking!

@BoundForNowhere5 жыл бұрын
Hey there Kari! Thank you so much! As frustrating as years of being in the permit lottery system can be I have to say it was worth the wait! We had the best time. So my hat and the colorful band are hand-me-downs from my grandfather. He has had it for years but this is the company that makes it: www.jacaru.com/

The film photos in this vlog and your blog post are so beautiful, the color and depth is just....heart eyes. I'm sure you have been asked so many times before, what film camera do you use? I ask because I am pinning away for one but a little overwhelmed by the choice! Lots of love from Norway! x
@BoundForNowhere5 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I love shooting film so much and I will say it was a unique experience shooting film on the trail because the conditions were unlike anything I've ever shot in and gave me results that I wasn't 100% happy with... but I learned a ton! I shoot a Nikon FE and LOVE it! I only shot Portra 400 while on trail!
