These 3 amazing musicians came together at the Christian Musician Summit at The Chapel in Buffalo, NY to perform a special tribute to our friend Roby Duke. This is "I Shall See God"

John Patitucci played on a couple tracks from Phil's album "Getting Closer" in the mid 80's. I had wondered if they had every collaborated again since then. Good to see them playing togther now - they are amazing.

Nick and Roby were as close as they come. Nick is a truly amazing player. I first saw him play in about 1990 around Seattle with Jon Goforth and the Jazz Terrorists. He first impessed me by what he didn't play. The contrast between sparse comping to presenting astounding chops puts him in a very elite league indeed. Thank you for this!

Something I would keep in mind when seeing Phil is the fact that when he appears in concert, he is more times than not, alone and playing acoustic. He is doing all the lifting so to speak. I have seen him too many times to count through the years and while I have enjoyed each and every one of them, some concerts have not been as well as others. That is to be expected in my view. Especially with traveling sometimes directly to a show. It is difficult for a virtuoso to nail it every time.

I am told by someone who knew him (and the song Town to Town bares this out) that Phil hates touring and used to get quite depressive when away from home for long periods. Don't know if he is still the same, but it stands to reason that it would affect his performance.

Not only does Keaggy "play well with others," he plays better with others. I want a CD with this AND the "AMAZING guitar solo" RadarRadioDave posted!

As a long-time fan of Phil, I hear his licks and melodic sense like the voice of an old friend, familiar but always a welcome sound. I love this setting of a trio with no drums. This is a real treat, and my thanks to whoever posted it. BTW, let's all say a prayer for the poor soul whose eyesight is failing so badly that they accidentally hit the dislike button :)

Phil is a great musician if he would just play. He has got this hang up about not wanting to be a "performer" so all of his music comes out weird. I went to one his concerts years ago here in Minneapolis and he just was weird.. too bad. I have two MP3s called Blues and I'm So Happy, I think that is the name and they are very good.

For the record, and to respond to the original comment, Manson, Patitucci and Keaggy are all Christians. This video was recorded at the Christian Music Summit. I'm sure Keaggy doesn't 'judge' non-Christians, performers or otherwise, but I'm sure he'd say he would love nothing more than for them to engage and contemplate Christianity on its own terms, not on the successes or failings of its followers.

Just because you never heard of them doesn't mean they only do Christian music. Try Jazz. Ever hear of it? Patitucci is a respected Jazz fusion bassist who has recorded with just about everyone. Nick Manson is perhaps less well known but still has gigged with an impressive array of musicians and pf course Keaggy is perhaps the only one of the lot that mostly does 'Christian music.'
